To my relief, I just got a phone call from Eileen. She has begun the process of healing and so far, says it is kicking her butt. The good news is she had a successful surgery this past Saturday: three bypasses and a nickel sized hole in her heart was repaired that they didn't know about until they opened her up. She told me they may send her home tomorrow though currently she doesn't feel all that well.

I passed on all the well-wishes everyone was sending her. Though hurting now, she says every day is a vast improvement and she seemed upbeat.

She hopes to be back on her FJR in a couple months. :) :clapping:

Tell her it will continue to get better although she may have some rough moments along the way... just part of the journey... tell her I speak from experience. ;)
Yep....valleys and mountain tops...repeat....

God, how I hate trudging through the valleys.....but the view from the mountain tops!?!?!? :yahoo:

Greg, pass on all of our good wishes to her. When she gets "the lonelies", there are plenty of folks thinking of her.

Hoping for a speedy and complete recovery. Don't plan on bouncing back too soon (BTDT, didn't work out well) as slow and steady will serve you well. Glad they found the problems when they did and hope you'll be back riding soon.

Adding best wishes from the Pacific Northwest!

I just stumbled across this post a few minutes ago, and am happy that they ran the tests when they did, catching the problem prior to damage to your heart muscle!

As the others have said: Slow and steady is the way to approach your rehab... no need to be a heroine now. In time you will feel better than you have in years (perhaps even longer if you had that undiscovered nickle sized hole limiting circulation - Gadzooks!)

Looking forward to reading your first post back here!

Don
