A nice gentleman, Ernie Azevedo, is working to revive the venerable "Tanji Cell" design and make some more cells. As some might know there were only about 12 or 13 of them made and they've always been coveted when they've been put on the used market. In fact, they often fetch a higher price than the original.
I believe Ernie's secured permission from Mr. Tanji, laser cut some pieces, and planning to jig and weld. However, the original cells were built for Gen 1 bikes and he'd like to make sure they're updated to also work for Gen 2 & 3 bikes. So, he needs a volunteer (preferably near him) to fit a prototype. My understanding is he'd "make you a deal" in the process.
So, if you're in the Milwaukie, Oregon area with a Gen 2 or 3, interested in a new fuel cell, and willing to work with him...send him an e-mail at [email protected]. Serious inquiries only please.....if you have to go look up Milwaukee you may be too far. My guess is he'll need to fit, tinker a little, and probably get a person to come back a time or two. I know several that retrofitted tanks without a huge effort.
I'm a bit far away to help him out.
However, I may be thinking about one myself. The Tanji design is a great one!
