This comes as a surprise, hope it's a good move on Polaris' part, time will tell.

Prices I have seen on the "new" Indians are crazy-who buys these bikes?

Good, I'm glad to see ownership of this brand stay in the US. With Polaris' resources behind it, there should be less chance of Indian dying again.

With as many forced relocations that the Indian marque has seen over the years, it would seem there might be more similarities than just name only.

I know a dentist/orthodontist who has one (new Big Chief) -- he also has an H-D Heritage Soft-tail.

On a similar note: (competitive/nostalgia/high $$ custom bike?) Big Dog M/C (Wichita) just filed for bankruptcy protection.

Is Polaris a solid company??
They've been around for 50 years, a world wide dealer network (not as big as some) if I read this right just shy of 150 million in profits last year. Read all about it here.
Thanks Rick...of course I know Polaris and snowmobiles...but I didn't know if this was a weak company buying a failed company. More power to them...

Time for the Yanks to make a great sporttourer as well...though I don't see the heritage in this company to go for that market.
