I think there's enough interest that I could possibly offer a choice of base color, either clear, or black anodize without impacting the overall cost.

There could also be an option for the outer case color. I've seen a nice grey color material, that wouldn't look out of place on the FJR. I'll grab a sample and shoot some pictures of it so you can all see it.

I'm not even sure if anyone would like to have the options mentioned, but thought I would throw it out there.

I am going to add a poll to see if this is even worth pursuing?

What about Blue anodize? Or Black Cherry? Sounds like you're biased toward Silver bikes, like me....

Ian,

I favor the grey - simply because it's easier to see at 3:00 AM when I'm trying to find the zipper ....

Us guys with old eyeballs (yeah,, that's you too, Toe !!) tend to lose the ability to see lots of black things in the dark.

Gee.... what about Hi-Viz yellow to match my Stitch?

Blue is ok, but is very difficult to get a color that can match both the '05 and '06 model.

Black cherry, don't even go there. Actually the color is not that bad just not for me.

Me, biased? I hate blue and cherry. :D

Well then, I guess grey is a worthwhile option to pursue. Pics to follow. :clapping:

I didn't see any Hi-viz, but will look into it, just for you!

You should also consider offering a bare aluminum version, for those that may want to do custom painting or powder-coating.

Since it wouldn't be anodized, you could pass the savings onto your customers in the form of a slightly reduced price for the bare aluminum version. :)

Roger that, people like options.

Is there a way to edit the poll to include this?

Thanks Matt.

We could also look into powder coating as an option as well? Isn't there someone in the PNW who has a good rep for doing this?

What colors do think should be on offer?

Yep.... fellow FJR1300 owner Bob McInnis of "Finishing First, Inc", Tigard, Oregon. His full contact info is at the bottom of this FJRTech article:

This dude is incredible... recall this work he did here on my Givi rack?

Hey, where's the 'gay-***' polished aluminum version? Ahem.

I'll take the clear anodized. Dozzit come close to the bikes aluminum bits?

I'm not going to polish this piece, but let me tell you that the surface finish I'll put on the bases from the machine will almost be a shame to paint over. Having said that, I could see where the powdercoating will probably offer better long term protection and really set this farkle off. The clear anodize will not hide any of the machining if thats what your wondering?

Before this all gets started, I'll try to get the desired combinations photographed and mounted on my bike and let everyone make up their own minds. Based on the poll numbers, that will be the way forward. I'm thinking the black powdercoat base with grey fabric might look pretty good.

Thats who I was thinking of.

Especially on an '04! That's why I voted for it.
Way better than an aluminum colored base with a red plastic bottle on top.

Not to volunteer anyone for anything here, but let's not forget that Garauld has the powder coat color to match the Galaxy Blue...hmmmmm

Garauld? You out there? Still in the business of making kick-*** parts / powder coating?

I'm not up to speed on the galaxy blue offered here, so if Gary is interested in getting involved for you '05 owners, I have no problem with this. ;)

The good thing about this discussion is that hopefully everyone involved gets what they want, within reason of course.

Already PM'd you that I'm in...for at least one. But please no gray cover, after one road trip it'll look like crap.
