DAYUM!!! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Get better soon, My friend!

Is there anything we -as his FJR buddies- can do for him? These ARE some pretty severe injuries. :dribble:
If anybody lives near him and has a means or vehicle for us to help him out...PLEASE make a way for us to help. :clapping:

Please.
+1

We got to stick together in times of need... This community is the best!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Ponyfool.

Locally, we had a motorcycle officer who is recovering from taking three bullets during a traffic stop on 7/31/06. The perp got away, but was found a few days later, being harbored by his tweaker family, following an intense manhunt. Long story short, perp, unlike the officer, won't be recovering from his liberally applied gunshot wounds. :dead:

Cop shooters aren't given much love around these parts.

Hope that story cheered ya up a bit.

That's bad news indeed. Please convey my good wishes to PF for a fast recovery.

I hope that LEO colleagues were able to 'speak' with the felon, without the presence of video cameras. He needs to learn that causing injury to one who Protects and Serves him, is not acceptable.

Do you have an address to which cards can be sent? Please drop me a PM if you do.

Thanks,

Jill

Dannnnng, PF dude. Prayers for you, man. Get well (completely) soon!

I know we are not supposed to make political type statements, but...

Cops and Firefighters need a raise. I don't know what they are paid, but I know it ain't enough.

Scott,

Hope you get well soon. Thanks so much for putting yourself on the line to protect us from the scum. You are truly a hero!

If someone has an address, please PM me as well.

Thanks,

Steve

:( This is not good!

Hopefully the bad guy got "tuned up" while continuing to resist backup officers on the way to jail. :angry2:

I echo the sentiments above Scott... you do a largely thankless job. Here's hoping you get better soon...

Speedy and Complete recovery wishes, ponyfool.

Thanks for keeping us safer!

Is pony gonna be okay??
I have heard merely a rumour that he is home now, resting. I have no way of contacting him other than thru PM, like anyone else here. I suspect he'll be checking the site sooner or later.

If I do hear anything significant, I'll post up.

Scott,Hope you have a speedy recovery and thank you for your service.

It makes us all realize that your job is one that takes a special breed, cause it sure ain't about money.

You guys put yourself in harms way and do a thankless job,so thanks once again for making things safer for all of us.

You gotta love the media. I just read the below news on www.oregonlive.com - looks like maybe PF's neck is okay after all.

Portland police sergeant hospitalized after chase

A Portland police sergeant was hospitalized early today after he was injured during a foot chase, police said.

Sgt. Scott Westerman, 40, a 15-year member of the Portland Police Bureau, broke his upper jaw, several teeth and a finger while chasing after a 32-year-old suspect, who is now in custody.

William Lloyd Depaz is accused of possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude an officer and resisting arrest.

Police said Westerman was closing in on Depaz just after midnight and pushed him to the ground. Westerman tripped over Depaz's feet and fell face first into the curb at Southeast 74th Avenue and Foster Road. Depaz had heroin on him, police said.

Doctors at Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center determined that Westerman did not injure his back or neck when he fell. He was to be released sometime this evening.

Leave it to the media to dramatize everything... :angry2:

I hope your not too beat up PonyFool, Great job catching the scumbag!

For once, the media is forgiven. Hearing that Scott's back and neck are not injured is great news. Much better than having things the other way around, and finding out that he was much worse than first thought.

Jill

Thanks for the well wishes!

I have been home just a little bit, compiled some pictures, and the details of what happened and posted them in this thread: All I want for Christmas....

Wow Scott - your pix are so incredibly ugly that my computer refuses to even entertain them.

You must be doing pretty well to have written such a detailed account of the incident. I almost felt as though I was there, watching. Scary stuff.

I'll bet they gave you Fentanyl, which is a narcotic that kicks in fast, lasts a short time then is gone quickly. That's the drug of choice for the kids I work with. One of the side effects is urinary retention. Ouch!

I bet you still look good in a full face helmet. Perhaps you should wear it to work.

Sending you all good wishes for a speedy recovery.

Jill

Scott, great to hear you don't have a broken neck!! :yahoo:

Sorry about all the other injuries :(

Thanks for all you do serving your fellow citizen out there in Portland. :clapping: :clapping:

Get well soon B) B) :assassin:

I hope everything works out well for you PF and am sorry to hear that it happened. Nice to see that there is another ******* off the street though. With any luck, he will be soaking his panties in cherry Kool Aid for the next dozen years or so in one of your finer institutions....
