I am in the process of setting up a group/self buy through a dealer here in the Pacific NW. and I'm trying to find out how many people are interested in getting in on this. I am also curious how many of those have a preference of the two brands. Please post up here your brand preference, if any, after you have read this entire post to make sure you want in on this.

I have one almost lined up for the Firstgear (W&S) but I need to talk with the guy to figure out how the specific breakdown goes.

The discount would be 15% if there are 15 orders, if there are 20 or more we would get 20%. So far I do know that the heated jacket liners, gloves and controllers are part of it. I am going to make sure that the liners and gloves don't have to be purchased together to get the discount. Shipping is not included in the price and the cost will probably depend on your location.

The guy I talked to also said he would give the discount on the Firstgear TPS TPG line as well as he is trying to get both the TPS TPG line and the dealership more exposure.

Here's how it will work if/when this kicks off. If you in on the buy PM me your name and what you want to purchase. I will make a list and when it reaches 15 buyers I will contact him to set up the discount and find out what the 'promo code' will be so you can call and place your order.

BE ADVISED: The orders will be placed with his distributor once 15 or more orders are received. I don't know how long it will take to get them shipped out after that. Please don't PM me or call him if you haven't received your order in a few days wondering where your stuff is.

Thanks to Warchild, Ignacio, and GunMD for their advice.

UPDATE

I spoke with the vendor that I am hoping to use for the Gerbing's GB/SB and they want a list of who wants to buy, including what they want to order including sizes before they will discuss what the discount will be.

Here's what I'm gonna do... Since I'm sure my PM will fill up to fast to keep up send me an email to Diverdown419 at hotmail dot com and tell me what you want to order. Include the sizes of them and I'll compile a list. Once we have 20 people who are definitely going to order I will take him the list with names and an invoice of what you want to order. Then I will see what kind of discount he will give.

They will ship but it will not be part of the discount.

Email me your real names for the invoice so if this goes through they will know who on the list. Hopefully this gets going since it's starting to get cold in the mornings.

Perfect time of year for this. I'm just now looking to jump into heated gear for me and my wife. Don't yet know much

about either the FG or the Gerbings. I did go to both websites. Suggested retail prices for the jackets, controllers, and

gloves are pretty much the same. I definitely want to go with the jacket liner vs. the vest liner. FG has two choices

depending on how much heat you want (65W vs 110W). Gerbs are rated at 77W. BTW...Gerbings are out of the male

gloves right now according to their website.

Anyway...but me down as want to get in on this.

I'd like to hear from the forum knowledge base on which of these, if you have experience with both, is better.

Hopefully there will be a consensus.

Also...very interested on the TPS jackets!

just picked up my first gear warm n safe liner a few minutes ago. just like my old warm n safe. well cept this one is 2 sizes larger

Not to hijack the group buy thread, (and if it is, I apologize) but are you familiar with www.heatedclothingoutlet.com I purchased a jacket liner, pants liner and thermostat for less than $200.00 where the retail on the jackets is $189.00 alone.

Good deal from heatedgearoutlet.com (Gerbing), but their liners are their previous generation line. Just FYI.

Tbird,

Let me know what you plan on getting, (liners, gloves, controllers, and how many of each).

I'll be interested if the deal includes heated socks AND gloves.

Oly Jr, can you tell us the prices? I'd be interested in a jacket and pants liner, already got heated grips.

I was already looking for some heated gear so I am definately interested. Two jacket liners and possibly a pair of pant liners with controller depending on price.

I hit a snag on getting info on a Gerbing's GB/SB. The guy I was told to contact no longer works for the place I was going to as of this morning. :angry2:

I will try to get a hold of someone in management and see what I can find out tomorrow. I'll let you all know what I find out.

Hudson,

If we get 15 people lined up for the Firstgear it will be 15% off, 20 or more will get us 20%. As far as the Gerbing's I have to get a hold of a different dealer and see if they will go with the GB/SB.

I have been going back and forth which one I think would work best. I'm not sure which is better or if it really makes much difference quality wise. I do know that each one has it's benefits. Firstgear has two different power levels 65W and 90W. But Gerbing's has pant liners and socks.

Some people want pant liners and socks so I'll see if we can get the Gerbing GB/SB first. I'll let you know when I find out more.

I did a little research on the two a while back and read somewhere that First Gear is made by Gerbing...or vice versa.

The best part is both companies utilize the same connectors making them interchangable...so I was told.

I have the Gerbing dual controller but am in the market for heated socks, controller leather pouch, gloves and necessary harness.

Fleebay has the classic gloves, leather controller pouch, socks and necessary harnesses for about $240 to the door...So I'd be wanting to beat that price.

I noticed that on Gerbing's Web Site they are sold out of their classic and G3 gloves.

That's a pretty steep discount for a relatively small number of people. If that works out, sounds like a smokin' deal for everyone involved. Nice job.

(At the risk of sounding pessimistic) Make sure you definitely have your minimum fifteen when it's time to pull the trigger. I tried to set up a group buy in July/August on some grip covers from WaterShed and my initial commitment from several turned into a handful when it was time to put up. I've had more interest trickle in over the last month and it may still have a pulse, but I learned something for sure - about half of those who say they're interested...are.

I have to pass on this group buy, but good luck with it and good on you for taking it on. It can be time consuming.

Thanks for doing the leg work on this, I know how hard it is!

I'm in for Gerbring gloves and a dual element heat troller if this goes through!

Here's my experience with Gerbing's heated clothing; Top quality stuff! I've got the complete set-up (jacket & pants liners & gloves & socks & dual controller) . The socks plug into the legs of the pants as do the gloves into the sleeves of the jacket. Here's the problem, your feet and hands need more heat than your torso. So if you crank up the heat on your socks you roast your legs. Each item does come with it's own power cord so I ran one down the legs and one down the sleeves so I can run the gloves and socks on one circuit and the pants and jacket on another. Now I can run the gloves/socks on high while the pants/jacket are run on low. I hope this helps. I paid roughly $710 for the complete set 2 years ago with 10% off. I've riden comfortably at 7 degrees f.

Gerbing's is coming out with dual 12v and rechargeable battery pack gloves..called Hybrid. Would these be included in the sale?
