Excuse me, but I'm new around here. Are you guys serious about keeping your bike 'bone stock'? Or maybe am I just missing some 'playful sarcasm' here? I personally think the OP's bike project is awesome and well done. Jeez - I hope you don't chase guys like this away.
only when they ar too much of a ***** to stick around.

WTF ... Gay? are you mad or something? The FJR is a great bike ... why not custom it? it's really great, i do have the money + time to make my FJR stand out among all, so i don't give a grap what you aoks say. after all it's just cosmetic color changes not mods if that will explain all.

I know that there will be somebody in this forum that will like my work on this custom FJR ;)

Let's just say that you would be hard pressed to find a bone stock FJR among the hoard here. ;)

And therin lies the reason for our ribbing here. Just about every bike on this forum has been altered, as Fred mentioned, but the vast majority of the "customizing" is more in the realm of making the bike work/perform better, make it more comfortable for the rider, and to add do-dads that make living with the bike day to day better.

So many opt for improved suspension components, better intake mapping...not to mention better seats, heated grips, bar risers, and a mix of electronic additions that just make being on the bike more enjoyable.

Doing stuff just to make the bike "stand out" tends to have a low priority...but if you had done a search on custom paint, you would have seen many have also dealt with their bikes aestetics...one members "Alien" inspired paint job blows away what you have done so far.

But as said, Chrome on a sport bike...or a Sport/Touring bike, is still gay. This is not a parade Harley, chrome is cool on cruisers, but pimping out a sport bike is like putting shag carpet in your ferrari...may look different, but somehow just seems out of place.

If you want to go chrome...you have to go all the way:

So don't get your *** in a tizzy simply because we made fun of your chrome-atizing.... many here just don't see the point if you know what I meam.

I do like the polished wheels , if that helps any. ;)

I appreciate the work you put into it for sure. Just keeping it looking that way is a big commitment and that is why most here dont go for shiny, hell alot of us don't even wash our bikes but once or twice a year if that. My bike is ridden across the continent on a yearly basis keeping it clean is the last thing on my mind, it gets in the way of the ride. But that's just me.

Now my Harley, she stays shiny as a new dime.

The wheels do look kick *** though.

Now, that's true liquid silver!!!

1) Wheels yes, but would prefer blue powder coat as someone previously did.

2) Rest of the chrome, not in my climate or in my list of things to do during free time.

3) Member beng offended in anyway by comments on this forum. That would be called setting your self up for more.

And did you actually cut the plastic away to better see the chrome on the left side? That's just barbaric. You've completely misunderstood the barbarian mod.

Final question, Is your father still talking to you? If so than you did a good job my boy.

I do understand what you guys are saying, my only reason why i do custom is because my dad ask me to custom his FJR, although my very own FJR is stock bone but with only stuff on it as tint screen + pipes etc, but i think custom biker are only 5 % in the biking today, but i do respect all your stock bones

let's keep this topic clean guys & don't wage war, after all it's nice to see an custom FJR that you don't often see ;)

Your just getting razzed because you done something that most people wouldn't take the time to do.

Most guys on here simply don't like chrome for the same reason they avoid looking in mirrors. The reflection reminds them they aren't 20 anymore.

Yeah, I think all the polish work (don't think it's chrome) is amazing ! Lots of work into that, so I have to respect the effort. Having worked in a metal shop as a kid I'm painfully aware of what it takes to get a polish like that on cast aluminum. It's not easy!!

I, for one, am interested in seeing the completed bike. Post up when you get some current photos !

will do so ;)

This topic will be for all custom & non custom FJR's that you posses :)

If you have a custom FJR or one that is near custom or even non custom! post them here.

...
I must say I like the treatment of this bike. It retains the look of an FJR with a lot well done shiny things added. To my eye this is a more subtle and interesting treatment than just hiring an airbrush guy to paint skulls, naked girls, and flames on your plastic.

I am like the other slobs here, I ride my bike a lot and wash it when it gets too disgusting even for me. No way would I have the dedication to appearance to keep a bike that clean for five minutes.

This thread is just askin' for it. Others have been layin' low, but they could turn this into one heck of a DP. :dribble:

I do appreciate the hard work you did this on this. I would not do this to my bike for a few reasons, too much time, money, and trying to keep it clean. I have a hard enough time washing my bike 4 times per year (yeah, I know, I'm a wussy for washin' it), aside from trying to keep all that chrome clean. It's unique for sure and I bet no one else in the world has one like it... but djbill may be upping the ante now. ;)

Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a Farkleholic...I've come to Farkle Anonymous at the gentle prodding of my family and friends

I will attend all monthly meetings here at Farkles Anonymous

I will daily ask my higher power for help with my addiction

I will no longer visit dealerships, ebay, or internet stores

I will cancel my motorcycle magazines, journals, and my AMA membership

If tempted, I will call my sponsor RadioHowie for help and advice

My name is Mike, and I'm a Farkleholic

======================================================

Important to me for comfort is a Sargent Seat, Airhawk Air Pad, Wild Bill Highway Pegs, Cal Sci Windshield, and for safety/paint protection, a tank protector & R&G Sliders. There are grip puppies and throttlemeister and a Superbrace. To help power the electricals, the bike has a Eastern Beaver fuse block.

There are stacked two sets of risers to bring the bars up, back, and spread out 10 degrees from stock

Ok, from left to right:

FZ1 mirrors with MaxView Blind spot mirrors

Audiovox Cruise Control Pad

J&M CB radio with MP3 plugged in and weather radio and passenger intercom...J&M headset with two speakers

Zumo 550 GPS with bluetooth...talks directions and also can receive and make cell phone calls...speaker in left ear

Datel Voltmeter

clip on drink insulator

black switches are three way for front and rear hyperwhites...run front ones solid all the time...leave the rear off

during PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) funeral escorts, click the switches to flashing and white leds act as strobes front and back

RAM cupholder

there's a two way switch switching between separate horn buttons or hit either horn button and both horns blow

this is Stebel Air Horn on TOG (tip over guard) and Fiamm disc horns replacing stock horns

there's a two way switch either hooking up the front hyperwhite to the headlight relay so it's only on

with the engine running like the headlight, or it's on unswitched power. I can use it for emergency flashers without

the key in

12 volt cig light plug cluster - MP3 charger, 2 minature led flashlights charge

mode

Powerlet plugs in black panel - one switched with key powering up GPS, CB,

and Radar Detector

other plug always on to plug in battery tender

Switch with led indicator velcroed to side of front brake master cylinder - turns on off front Lazer Light bullet fork lights

Thermometer

Adaptiv Radar Detector with triple led visual warning on dash and wireless

audio-speaker in right ear

this unit velcros with industrial strength product to top of the front brake

master cylinder...found the cord would

unplug itself intermittently, so rubber band is a keeper on the cord pulling

it toward the unit at the plug

I used to fly these many moons ago chasing Rusky subs:

All that and not a spec of chrome added to it. I'd add a lawn mower deck to the bottom of it, so you can get a little more use of out of it when the lawn needs to be cut. Back-hoe connected to the rear rack might be a good idea.
