My bike had a drop...landed against a car, now the left side mirror is bent in/up. The mirror is fine, its mounting bracket is what bent. My question is the mirror assembly strong enough to use as leverage to pull the bracket back or do I need to pull the fairing off and figure out how to fix it from there?

HRZ, it probably worked for you 'cause you frightened the poor thing!

I'd probably remove the mirror and use a couple of bolts that would fit. The mount location on the Gen II has inset aluminum bushings, which could fracture under pressure. The sub-frame itself is mild steel, so will bend pretty easily. The mirror arm itself is fairly strong, but I think it's made of some alloy and possibly some plastic bits.

Another advantage of using a couple of bolts is that you can then attach something longer than the mirror assembly, which will provide more leverage.

I made a "tool" out of an aluminium bar, two holes to line up with the mirror mounts, longer screws to hold it in place.

Although my fairing was off at the time, this isn't necessary, but you may need spacers to hold the bar off the paintwork.

The mirror base is fairly strong, but I wouldn't trust it to lever the frame, it's made of crap cheap alloy covered in plastic.
