Can someone walk me through how to post up a map from either Mapsource or Streets and Trips? I'm imagining I have to first get it over to Photobucket and then transfer it from there but exactly how is it done? I apologize if this is an elementary question but I can't figure it out for the life of me. :dntknw:

Do you know how to capture an image from your computer screen?

Try Alt+Print Screen

Next open up MS Paint or some other image editing software and <Paste>.

Save the image with whatever name you like and upload that file to your image hosting site.

Edit: almost forgot... You'll probably have to crop the image, but I'm sure you would have figured that out.

I do a lot of screen-captures in my work so I purchased Snag-It. It's $39.95, but worth every penny. You can capture anything that's on your screen, from a website (all pages) to an image, dialog box, or S&T map, and then save it in any format including JPG or PDF. Not affiliated, just a happy user.

Once you have what you want captured, like a picture of a map, you crop it as needed then save it as a .JPG file then upload the file to Photobucket or wherever your online picture storage is. That's how I did the image below (my route for this coming weekend).

I REALLY needed this information too. Thanks. I thought I was the only one struggling here.

Thanks JoeTool, Axeman, and LDRyder.

And have a good trip LD. Stay dry. And take some pictures for us.

Just FYI, Windows Vista has whats called a "snipping tool" built in. You open it and you can choose the area of the screen you want to grab and it will save it as a jpeg. Very similar to Snag-it.

If you don't want to go the SnagIt route (pay to play) you might want to Google for "screen capture to JPG", looks like there is a number of free ones. I haven't tried them so can't really recommend one.

S&T has a print map function on it. Just zoom the area to what you want...then print the map...then go to MS paint and paste it there. Save the file then export it to photobucket.

If somebody wants to write this process up....of going from a newb, to cropping and saving an image, to hosting it...lemme know and we might either pin a thread or merge it with several other photo threads we've got going.

I'll give it a stab and others can edit, modify as they see fit.

1. Open your map/route picture from Mapsource or other software program.

2. Do an "Alt+ Print Screen".

3. Open MS Paint.

4. Open a "new" project in MS Paint.

5. Go to Edit pull down menu in MS Paint and highlight, "paste".

6. Your map picture should appear in your MS Paint window.

7. Crop or modify your map in MS Paint as you please.

8. When finished, "save image as a JPEG" to your hard drive file.

9. Upload to your photo software sharing host.

10. Link photo from your software host to whatever website you wish.
