I've got an Escort Passport 8500 RD. The RD will be mounted on a Techmount stem mount.

I installed a Powerlet on panel D. I'm looking to buy an accessory power cord with a Powerlet connector for the Passport.

The cord options are: 1) a 3' (extended) coiled cord, 2) a 1' coiled cord (unsure if this is the extended length or not), 3) a custom length cord (not coiled).

Wondering what length cord you all have found to work well with these mounting/power source locations.

Thanks

I ordered a hard wire cord from Escort which comes with an inline fuse and a tap and tapped into the hot wire going to the accessory outlet in the storage box. This wire is switched so you won't have to turn off and on the RD and is easy to get to once you remove the panels..I too have a powerlet on panel D but use it for heated gear..just another option..

Sounds good. We Gen1 owners don't have the outlet in the glove box so would have to use another switched source.

I went ahead and ordered the 3' coiled cord. Hopefully I won't forget to turn the RD off and be stuck with a dead battery.....but I know I will forget and I will have a dead battery.

I need to come up with an electrical plan before I do any more wiring mods. Will probably install a fuse block with switched and non switched circuits.

Check out Safe-N-Sound, they have a hard wird with a remote mute buttom that I mounted on my clutch lever and I can mute with my index finger.
