I just put on a set of PR2s on my (new since May) '07 after 6500 miles on the BT020s. I think the BT020s have about 2 - 4000 miles but read where they lose rubber faster as they get more miles and we're leaving on 4500 mile trip from the SF Bay Area to Colorado and back.

But I digress... I couldn't find anything the Michelin site or here on what pressures to us. I suspect the FJR's pressures are not right as on my Roadstar and wife's VStar we ran Metzler's pressures and got very good mileage.

I ride solo, weight 200. What pressures are PR2 users using?

TIA,

Roy

I run 40 front and rear. Have no idea if that's "ideal" or "optimal", but I'm on 7500 on the PR2s and they still have a lot of life left.

Well, according to the sidewalls, 42/42, and you can bet an FJR is close enough to "Max. Load" to justify, especially on hard takeoffs or stops, when most of the weight is on one tire or the other....

I ran stock tire pressure and got 11k on my last set of PR2s. Second set has what ever the dealer put in when installed last month. Guess I should check them more often, since they have about 5K miles now.

The NAFO trip was loaded way over max for the bike. I weigh 250 and the wife is xxx. Rode with the trunk, saddlebags, tankbag, and four duffel bags stacked on the side bags.

Damn good tires.

Everything I've read about tire pressure says that it is the vehicle, not the tire that determines the tire pressure settings.

Manufacturer settings are intended to be for best safety, not best mileage or fuel economy (though these days, one might question the mileage issue).

I have chosen to use manufacturer numbers on ALL of my rides when setting tire pressure. The FJR can drag pegs at 39/42 and the tires seeem to wear well.

What more can I ask for?

I've been at 42 pounds since I had them put on. I have just over 8K miles on them, and fully expect to get 10 to 12K miles out of them.

I've got 7500 miles on the rear, still a lot of tread left, and running 40-42 psi. I run the front PR1 at 40psi and have 14.5K on that one now, soon to be changed to the matching PR2.
