I had just pulled into the Von's parking lot, removed the helmet, grabbed the keys, and was on my way to a sandwich from the deli counter. My walking path was between two cars, each parked nose to nose. The car on the left was running, the guy looked like he was ready to back up..he checked his mirrors, rotated his head.. and just as I was about to walk between the cars a voice said.. just hang back for a second so I did.. and sure enough, the ID-10-T had the freakin car in Drive, not Reverse. He ended up smashing the bumper of the car ahead... right where my body would have been. He hit hard enough to break the plastic grill and blow out a headlight.

So.. do you have a premonition story to tell?

All the time. Rule #1 Don't EVER fight your instincts, they always win. That rule has saved me so many times I swear I have 1,000's of lives, at work and play! :dribble:

The day I bought the FJR I drove around a jetta & rule #1 kicked on and for some reason I kept watching it in my mirror when I stopped. Sure enough here comes the vw w/ no sign of slowing down.I pulled next to the explorer in front of me and he looked at me like I was trying to cut in front of him. When I started pointing behind him w/ my gloves, he unrolled his window to say something and heard the vw's tires screech about 1 second before she slammed into him at about 30mph!

Yes RULE #1

Was on my bike, and was going for a ride at lunch. Came to a "T" intersection (my road was the vertical line on the T) where all directions had a stop sign. I was turning left, and nobody was waiting (or even near) the other Stop signs. I get ready to make my turn, and a voice in my head says to stay put. For some reason I listened, and 3 seconds later see the soccer mom in an SUV barelling down on the intersection from my left... she never even slows or hits the brakes and zooms through the intersection. I would've been a bug on her front grill....

Last summer, I was riding an unfamiliar road in the mountains of East Tennessee. I was approaching a blind right-hander w/ a small rise on the right...read: no escape to the right. Rule #1 kicked in (Why? I don't know.) and I rolled off the throttle and began to slow my approach. Around the corner came a car, barrelling along w/ 2 tires well on my side of the double yellow. Don't know if we would have hit if I had continued but it would have been scary close, at best.

Rule #1 Rules! :assassin:

Can't think of anything in particular, but yeah, I always listen to my gut or Advance Warning System. Most always right.

Oh, how the hell do you eat a whole Von's Deli sangwich? Dang, they put like a pound of meat on them bastadges!

Mine seems to be cops. I can sniff them well before their RF Emitters can sniff me, or so it would seem.

It will be interesting to see if that remains the case. I'm not particularly superstitious or anything but you may have just, err, ruined it. :glare:

At EOM I was leading a small group including Beal and Grumpy. We had been putting along (US-58 I think) for a while, behind this tractor driving through town. Reached an area where passing was possible and looked okay, no driveways, no dirt roads etc. But the look on the back of Junior's head made me nervous. He just seemed to be at least one chromosone of my family tree.

So instead of being the brave leader and blowing around him for fun. I sat back and was thinking "those guys are bound to be wondering what the hell I'm waiting for!". Junior whipped the wheel left, no throttle back, no signal, not even a turn of his pointy little head.

He kept going(left) and Thank God! so did we(straight). Must have been the Farah Moans he was emitting!

Maybe. Sat night the coast was clear, put the hammer down, tucked, and went 5-6 miles down 35 WFO, tapping 150 (wind on my ***, all that junk I have up front plus the Bailey really cuts down the top) and figgered "well, thats enough now", backed out of it, as I slowed (man, felt REALLY slow) to 65 I passed a Certificate Salesman sitting in the weeds, again.

One really good one was when I was with Sherri on a twisty road and I said to her as I backed off the throttle, "I'm going to chill, I think there are deer around." Two curves later I hit the skids and slowed soon enough to miss three deer that bound across the road. Thank goodness I slowed down. This kind of stuff happens to me quite often. I like it when it's witnessed.

I wonder how many times I have listened to the voice, but not been able to tell if there were positive results. There have been many times that I thought a particular road was not a good idea. Would I have had problems on the avoided road? I dunno, but I've had a enough cases of being "right" that I tend to listen to reason or, "the voice."
