Press release August 2007 Starcom1 goes Digital

The newest product to be introduced from Tecstar Electronics Limited is a complete digital motorcycle intercom system entitled “ Starcom1 Digital” utilising the latest techniques in providing the highest performance with multi connectivity.

In order to optimise settings and maintain maximum performance whilst riding, the analogue controls have been replaced by a processor that continuously monitors and automatically adjusts settings as conditions change.

Using digital technology also means that the unit can be user programmed to suit individual requirements and change parameters specific to customer applications.

Using the same case structure with a die cast alloy extrusion (credit card size 95 x 55 x 25mm) as Tecstar’s mid range product “Starcom1 Advance” the styling has changed to reflect the image of this high performance unit. A jet black satin finish encompassing an ultra thin control keypad with miniature red LED’s indicating the current set up and settings.

The user input ports have been increased to eight, allowing individual and combined audio inputs for rider and passenger ( so you can listen to your own music) two phone inputs so rider and passenger can handle their own calls, Satellite navigation, radar detection, two way radio for bike to bike and PTT control.

Programming the unit is also straight forward, you can select to use the factory preset settings or change any specific condition or control to suit a specific requirement. Once set everything remains automatic ensuring the optimum performance.

An optional remote control which can sit neatly on the tank provides remote setting or programming. Whilst being a practical solution for the user who wants to have complete control, cosmetically it adds a further dimension to any bikes appearance giving an ultra modern look.

As with all starcom1 systems a series of kits are offered for differing applications, however any kit can be changed or upgraded into any other with the addition of extra cables or headsets etc.

A full range of accessories are also available to suit a variety of installations.

These units are in stock now.

Have you tried one out Jeff and so how is it? Are the Starcom Advance cables compatable? C'mon now, us gadget freaks gotta know. :dribble:

Bike Effects has some cool stuff and really knows how to empty my wallet! If my Advance unit ever craps out I will have to updgrade. Gotta be digital! Now if those Tecstar folks would integrate iPod control into a StarCom..........

Much to my surprise, they showed up today. They have talked about this for some time but all of the products dates are meaningless. No, I have not tried one. My bike is "forkless" in the garage while GP Suspension has a go at them. It is going to be at least another week.

It will be interesting to see how the unit works. Two inputs each for phone and music is interesting. I actually carry two cell phones (don't even go there!) so that will be a help. All cables, headsets, Bluetooth adapters etc from the other units work with the Digital.

Hey, hey,

The Pusherman

Is this digi money pit worth the upgrade? And when does bikeeffects.com start the 12 step program? :dribble:

They've pushed their pricing beyond Autocom and almost into Baehr territory - it'd better be a great unit.
The original Starcom1 seems to be still available at almost half the price of the new unit.

I guess everyone has to decide for themselves if the new features are worth the extra $200.

$223 for the original Starcom1 is pretty good bang for the buck.
