Another perhaps less important part of the story is that he was supposed to have gone out there 6 months ago but it was decided by the powers that be that it would make it too dangerous for the rest of the troops as he would be too big a target. He was on TV at Christmas sending his mates a message and said that there was nothing he would rather do than go out there with them.

He has been there for some time we now learn after a foreign news agency leaked the information, breaking a news blackout.

I've seen the newshounds do a lot of mis-quotes and even make things up, but have to hand it to them for this one. They let him be in a forward base for about 10 weeks without blowing it.
