Yeah, it's a concrete corn cob. So?
I decided that, before riding the EOM 2008 routes, the FJR needed a new rear tire.
I called them one day before we left and they suggested I try to get in earlier than I had originally planned. OK.
We roll in about an hour later than I had hoped. I talk to Steve (service manager). No more than 5 minutes later he's taking my bike back to the service bay.
A few minutes later, he comes out to inform me that my rear brakes are gone. Completely, utterly, 100% gone. Luckily, I rarely use the rear brakes. The FJR has 53K on it -- I tell him go ahead and replace them.
A few minutes later - yep, the fronts are thin, maybe 100 miles left on them. D-OH! I have them do the front brakes also.
Steve showed me both - yep, the rear was gone, the fronts were thinner than I was anticipating. My bad as an owner for not checking this (live and learn), cudos to those guys for being thorough.
Thanks to the service manager Steve for getting me right in.
Nice to meet Bruce, who works there and rides an '07 FJR with a nice, new 2 Brothers exhaust. Hopefully his wife is speaking to him again since adding the exhaust without the go-ahead from her.
And thanks to the mechanic who worked on the FJR, Eric.
Bottom line: in and out in about 45 minutes or so, for a new rear tire, front and rear brakes, all for under $200.
