Was doing some shopping on the Wees. Found many dealers were out of them and awaiting '09s. One dealer did a search and found no '07s or '08s available in Montana. Research also shows sales of cruisers, sport bikes and tourers are way down, but that sales of scooters and dual sport/adventure tourers are way up, so it appears demand for these is high. Found a new '07 for $8099. The MSRP on the '09 is $9799 and my information is there are no changes between the '07 and '09. Is this a deal? Also, what would I expect to pay for the Givi hardbags (no trunk) and mounting hardware? Is the centerstand only optional and what is the cost? What else would be required (or desired)? How does this bike work for pillions (57-year-old wife)? Thanks in advance for replies.

The men's version (Dl-1000) of the strom is the funnerest bike out there ..especially for the cost. The '07 price you saw is pretty good and I'd be quick to fetch it up if I were you. No, there is not any significant changes to the 09, no significant changes since '04 truth be known.

You'll want to use your savings to buy a few things, most notably handlebars and a few other must hav's.

as far as you centerstand question The OEM centerstand is the best IMO, compared to other options. not sure on current price.

It is a good bike for 2-up so no concerns there.

One comment, before jumping into the Givi luggage, you might explore other options, nothing against the givi, but it is just one of many ways to go.

comparison I put together a while back here(clicky)

Hey Reno, have you had the chance to try out a WeeStrom? Is there a big difference in physical size between the 2? The 1000 that a buddy of mine rides seems so damn big. I havent had a chance to ride his yet, but hoping to soon. I am thinking that the Weestrom would be a good size for a 2nd bike.

Craig's List deal: a 2005 with less than 1000 miles? WTF? Ya, he should sell it. It looks like a fine deal (couple Gs worth of farkles) and if I lived in the area I'd be all over it. I'd even see if I could find a cheap flight and ride it home...if it weren't 16 degrees and a fresh inch of snow on the ground this morning. I'm planning a southwest (southern Utah, NM and AZ) tour with my brother in a month (trailer to St. George, UT) and I had a hankering for something lighter and more nimble than the Feej, especially since I'll be soloing as Pillion stays home. But, good tip nevertheless and appreciated. I'll check CL for something closer.

My father in law wanted one. I found a 2005 Dl1000 with 7K miles, well farkled with hard bags for $5500, We bought it for $5100 and he likes it, Having a hard time between it it his 1200 LT beemer. Great bike.

I bought a 2005 DL1000 and have ridden it for over four years now. I still love it and ride it more than I do my FJR. I have made several changes to mine in cluding: fork springs, chain and new sprockets (larger in rear), Michellin Pilot Road 2s, fuel injuction tuning, removed the secondary butterflies, EBC HH brake pads in the front, added a tail trunk (the side bags stick out too far), etc....
