looking for a professional way to re-route heat coming from engine. when outside temp. is over 80 deg. it's extremely hot in the saddle. never experienced this before - am looking for more than a band aid fix i.e. heat blankets, etc.

any feedback would be appreciated.

search this forum for the cromit fix, remove the rubber insets between the tank and frame, put foil backed Frost King insulation on the bottom of the tank. Doesn't make it perfect, but it improves it greatly.

Boy oh boy they're taking it easy on you... So far.

I put the insulated tin-foil and foam under my tank and it really helped. Also try keep the tank full. I always wear riding pants and jacket too no matter the temp. It sounds hot but it actually insulates you from the bike. Riding boots also insulate you too. The worst is in stop-n-go traffic so just avoid that when possible. I've got close to 50K under my belt on this bike so I know what I'm saying.

Welcome to the forum. You should first go to the bin-o-facts here though before you start asking questions though. Some of the lads are a little anal about searching for yourself although this is a forum where you're supposed to ask for help. When searching Google you might try

heat fix site:fjrforum.com see what that brings up.

Good Luck

Rob

"I always wear riding pants and jacket too no matter the temp"...........even in Quebec ???

I had a hot one, and the air wings helped the most. Did the foil, for me a waste of time. Bought the bike to cover many miles between fuelings, so stopping to top off frequently would've defeated the purpose.

I just bought some foam from JoAnne Fabrics for $11.

It was a square 22 inches X 22 inches X 2 feet square.

I cut it to fit in between the faring and the engine. I don't think any more heat will come through that area.

I will report back when I get a chance to ride it to work, probably tomorrow. (Tuesday)

When I bought it, it had some foam in there, but not enough to really do anything.

I am hopeful that this will block the heat coming between the faring and the engine.

I have some kind of cloth looking thing coming out from under the gas tank, looks like some heat fix thing. The tank does get hot and a fresh tank of gas feels real cool...

Ski Bum...my condolences on yer heat problem! I had the 1st gen model and did whatever I could to ward off that demon heat. Here in the mountains of B.C., you wouldn`t think it could be a problem....but it was. What really pissed me off was the fact that my ole Honda ST1100 was cooler in Death Valley, Mojave, Arizona deserts than my FJR was up here in Canuckleland. Coming home from Revelstoke in the summer of `06 did me in...I was cooked and I knew it was going to be my last summer with my beloved `04, great bike in every other aspect that it was! The cure?: 2nd gen...my `07 is cool as a cucumber by comparison!!! :assassin:
