I'll be making a cross ctry trek early August... I'm staying at the South Rim one night and I'm trying to decide rather to take 264 from NM to "Grand Canyon" or take I40 to 89 and back down on 64...

This is a first riding in the Southwest, so scenery is important to me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

264 absolutely my choice. The freeway will be faster but, definetly not very scenic. IMO JB

If you have time, it's worth the trip south on 89 the see the Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon area. Every time I have visitors in town, they actually enjoy the scenery there better than the Grand Canyon. The landscape and the colors are spectacular, and you're riding through it all.

Hard to explain but you'll see. The Crand Canyon is so magnificent that it actually looks fake when your standing in front of it. Even the pictures you take will look like your in front of a fake background.

Whatever you decide, enjoy your trip.

I always thought my scoot mixed well with the canyon backdrop.

Thanks for the "posts". Sedona is looking like a strong possibility... I'm also planning to take rte 66 from Seligman to Kingman.

If can learn how to post pictures on here, I'll post a few while I"m on the road.
