Greetings all,

I am comming over from the COG (Concours) boards. I am a current C10 owner who is looking to upgrade soon. I am looking for any and all input on what you guys love and what you guys hate about the FJR. I have gone down to my local dealer and so far I have sat on one, and I liked it very much. My main concern is passenger comfort. My SO is 5'9" and she is pretty uncomfortable on my Connie

How hot is the bike? ( I live in Southern AZ)

What is going to be new for '08, or do you know when the '08 will be out? (ST site says only the color changed)

Thanks in advance for any and all answers,

Greg

I just came off of an 02 connie. It is like night and day. I got my FJR on 8-2. I am 6'2 and always had hip and knee issues on my connie. The FJR is alot more room. it rides alot better to me too. There is almost no heat put off of the bike. I rode my connie to Lowes the other day and thought my legs were on fire. I live in Ga and I can ride most of the year. The FJr is great with no heat in the summer, but i think Jan is is going to be one COLD bike. It handles better than the connie on the twisties to in my opinion. My wife don't ride, so i can't help you there.

like O'vale, we tried out a wing and momma prefered the fjr. On the wing she felt like she was perched too high. We did a givi with a backrest, used toecutters extension plate (gains 3 inches of room) and she fell asleep on the way to wfo 6. There was an article in cycle world, i think, comparing the fjr to st1300, bmw, and st sprint. They had a lady editor ride pillion and she chose the fjr. good luck, jr

Greg,

Just search thru the forum and you'll find tons of info on the fjr. Most all of it good. Some of it not so good. I came off of a ST1300 that I put 35K miles on. My wife probably rode 15K on the ST. Once we put a custom seat on it, she didn't complain.

We've got 10K on the FJR and she's probably been on it for 3K miles. We're in the middle of a 1.8 - 2K mile trip right now, (laptop at a hotel in MO.) and she has NO complaints about the FJR.

We rode a Connie for one evening a couple months ago and neither one of us liked it. The FJR seems like it has air conditioning in comparison to an ST or a Connie. The temp gauge read 97 most of the way across TN yesterday, and though it was hot, it wasn't unbearable (like it would have been on the ST)

Fit and comfort are a personal thing. Only you (and your wife) can decide if the FJR is right for your garage.

Good luck and good hunting.

I live in SE Arizona. I had an ST "nard roaster" and my wife did not like the pillion seat. I got the FJR and it rides very cool even in 107F heat. My wife says the pillion seat on the FJR is more comfortable.

Love this bike!

I have owned the FJR for one month now and there is nothing that I do not love about it. Other than the GL1800 wing it is one of the only bikes I have found that less is more. My wife and I ride side by side so I can't speak for passenger comfort but I really like the stock seat up front and if your wife does not like it in the back you can put on a different saddle that will make her happy and you will love riding the bike.

You mentioned the ST boards too but that bike is bigger, higher center of gravity and less power to weight than the FJR (I spent last year on one) the ST may be you, but keep in mind that it is a different bike and not a VFR made by Honda.

well, I hate the fact that my FJR is always calling to me from the garage "c'mon, you know you want to go for a ride" and I can't seem to get much done on my days off cause I am riding the damned thing.

And don't even get me started on the money I've invested in farkle after farkle..

I've ridden several bikes of various makes and models, but will have to say that my FJR is the best to date for overall comfort, performance and value.

The Gen 1 bikes do produce a lot of heat, but from what I've read / heard, the Gen 2's have that problem under control. The only thing I'd change is handle bar position, but it's certainly not something that would stop me from buying an '08 FJR.

Be advised - this motorcycle is a rocket - so hang on tight!

your main concern is easily remedied with a good aftermarket saddle and backrest. there are plenty to choose from but beware if seat height is a consideration. Most aftermarket seats will raise your seat height (unless you go with a corbin). As far as heat goes, I find the Gen 2 FJR to be very warm on hot days, but much much better than a Gen 1 bike and the st1300 (that things was just rediculous). Bars and pegs get a little buzzy around 4500 rpm's , but from what i hear about the connie, you wont notice.

Bottom line: FJR is fun and comfortable bike to own (after you get you farkling done).
