The guitar world lost one of the good guys yesterday. Blind guitarist Jeff Healey lost a battle with cancer at the age of 41.

What a huge and staggering loss!!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

And, DAMN, I had no idea he was that young, either....

Jeff Healey was an exceptional, EXCEPTIONAL guitar talent, likened in many ways to Steve Via, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan and others......

We have lost a great one here, folks....... :(

Here is a very young Jeff Healey playing with Stevie Ray Vaughan....

What a great loss!

I saw him a few years back in London Ontario at the Bluesfest. I didn't realize he played so close to me this past month. I would have gone an seen him again.

My loss and well as the worlds.... he will be missed! :(

I for one am totally bummed.

It seems that many of the very great ones don't get to be around for as long as we'd like.

This artist will be missed.

dougc

a fan since the mid 80's

Besides the initial sadness when I heard the news, I had a very weird feeling in my gut when I saw 'Jeff Healey 1966-2008' as I, too, was born in 1966.

CRAP!!!!! That's a big loss!!! He was an incredible guitarist............I work in Toronto and have been to his club a few times. He always had great bands playing there. Too bad................he will be missed.

Another young artist gone before their prime. I got to see Jeff live when he opened for Little Feat when they played the Chiles Center at University of Portland. What the heck year was that, 1980-something? And I liked Jeff's appearance in Road House, which featured Little Feat's Rad Gumbo on the soundtrack.

I hadn't heard about his club, sounds like it was a good-time place.

I was sorry to see him go, but heard last year he'd had a big chunk of lung and some other odd bits removed and it didn't look good. I was fortunate to see him and the house band from his club play here in Calgary (opened for Tom Cochrane) - one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time. He'll be missed.

His last set of blues/rock recordings should be on the streets soon, if it isn't already.
