F4 simply for lust reasons.

For practicality, a new FJR and a used R6 for the track for the same amount of money as the lesser of the 3 bikes in the title.

Certainly if you plan to ride it more than look at it, the R1LE, no question.

Obviously, the Augusta is beyond awesome. But the R1LE is (IMO) quite a bit better-suited for the real world (with regard to parts availabity, number of dealerships, etc).

Seems odd the R1 LE is two pounds heavier than its non-LE brother. Must be the componentry without any corresponding chassis or drivetrain reductions. And, I'm having real trouble with the yellow. Just doesn't seem to do this beautiful machine justice. On the other hand, if you believe the dry weight numbers, the LE is 40 lbs. lighter than the F4!

Well, I'm probably CRAZY but I'm toying with the idea of trading in the beemer K1200S for an R1LE.

Am I wise or crazy?

F4. Easy for the lust side. That, and I have already owned an R1. I want something not everyone else has.

Looking at your stable, I think it is safe to say you like going fast.

Perhaps a 'busa or the upcoming ZX-14 would suit you best?

If so, then I would say, "Yes. You are wise AND crazy."

R1LE.

It's a tough battle though.

Common sense would dictate the R1LE. Slipper Clutch, Ohlins and Marchesini's. Yeah it's the bang for the buck here.

But the MV. Exotic, good ergos for the class. Single swingarm and yes it's an MV.

BMW K1200S. It's got the best ergos here. Definitely the choice here for sport-touring or just all day riding.

IMHO

A motorcyclist asking another motorcyclist advice on what bike would be best for him/her is crazy in my mind, but, that's just me.

I look at your stable and wonder "why would you need and S4 (assuming its a Duc S4) and an FJR?". But, then again, every rider is different.

I am also curious, why are you considering getting rid of the K1200S? Are you bored with it? Does it not do everything you wanted it to do?

I think the LE is a nice bike, but, I'm not sure what you're looking for and I don't really consider the K12S and the LE to be in the same class.

Better yet…how about the Jamie James special edition JJP-R1! :dribble: This is my #1 lust factor bike & gets my vote. Will set ya back a cool $39k. WOW! If you guys aren’t familiar with it…it’s in the 12-05 CW issue. I can dream…can’t I?

Na…Morgan you are not crazy. I have test ridden the KS and love it but…IMHO, I think it crosses into the FJR genre too much. The KS is very sport touring orientated (to me) and along with other GT bikes, it intersects/overlaps the FJR quite a bit. For me, the KS would be a FJR replacement. I think the R1 would be a better contrast for a stable mate. That is just my opinion and I could be wrong in your case…but, is that why you are lusting for the R1LE? Ya need da bad boy toy? LOL. Oh, oh…you better not look into the JJP-R1. LOL. $$$$$$$$$$! ;)

How about the new MV Agusta Brutale 910? 130+ HP, very exclusive. Pretty much guaranteed not to see another one at the DQ Bike Night.

What do you think FJRZON! There you go stirring the pot again! :p

FLRoadking, how about this for exclusivity (only 5 made per year for this production bike) :p :p :p :p :p ?: https://www.marineturbine.com/motorsports.asp

P.S. Thought this was rather humorous and added it here too: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=3839
Only problem is around here you may see another. Jay Leno has one.

Here are some answers...

Why trade the K1200S?

I love the ergos but want something better in the twisties without sacrificing the wholly sh_t power for curvy exits and straightaways. Has to be tops in braking, power, handling and hopefully not too painful with ergos.

Brutale?

I'm a whimp when it comes to wind at 80mph+. I need a bit more protection.

Marine?

I can afford an exotic, but this bike requires the wealth of a talk show host.

Place your vote. Have the latter. Now lusting for the first two.
In the normal bike category, the R-1 in black is stunning.

But the MV Augusta F4 1000 Tamburini is sex on wheels.

Gerbing Heated JACKET LINER Review

most can't even enjoy the difference. all are equal works of art.

fyi

the gearing change alone on the f4 can brake most people's bank, yet tires on a liter bike can last 1-2hrs on the track at most if one uses what one has to the fulllllest of limits.

get ready to spend close to $500+ to find out what your made of. food for thought....

i do it monthly, and still don't reach the max possible limits of the best of the best. i work hard at it but still.......working on it.

Have never ridden and MV F4 Augusta Tamburini, but followed one out from the Moto GP at Laguna Seca this summer! I was intrigued by the quad pipes and was thinking " this is some kind of special pistola" as I followed it out of the park.

A beautiful piece of workmanship for sure! I lust after it, like I lust after a KTM "Duke".

The MV Brutale is no "sluffer" either! B)
