I have an Escort Solo S2 radar detector and an Ipod. I would like to have the sound from both the detector and Ipod to play through my Etymotic ER6i headphones. I really like the ER6i headphones. They sound great and they fit nicely under my helmet. The radar detector is mounted to my clutch fluid reservoir with some industrial strength Velcro and the Ipod will reside in my left inside jacket pocket. Is there an easy way to connect these two items with an adaptor or something?

One way to get both sources to your ears is with a MixIt unit. It allows seperate volume levels for multiple devices and I believe runs on batteries. A more advanced method is a StarCom or Autocom or other such device that will allow mixing of sources, cell phone use, two way radio use, etc. Those units can get pricey but work very well. The mixit could be put in a tank bag or maybe in a large jacket pocket with the iPod. I'm not sure combining the two sources with out some sort of buffer would be a good idea.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping for a cheaper solution. I guess I will have to fork out some dough. :dribble:

That's the most econonomical one...that's not a POS. From Mix-It...you'd be talking Starcom or Autocom and MUCH more.

There is a cheaper way. :yahoo: Try this link. Ampli- rider I have one of these and unless the price has gone way up, it was about half the price of a Mix-it. The thing I like about this one, is the remote volume control. Makes it really easy to turn down the volume at intersections and such.

great product

excellent vendor
Mix-it's are good and will fit the bill and do exactly what you want. That being said, the connectors on them can be some what suspect at times. They don't like moisture at all. The two guys I ride with most (dad and a buddy) still use Mix-it's. Both of them also carry contact cleaner with them and apply at regular intervals :(

At the start of the IBR I saw a couple that we almost entirely encased in duct-tape to keep the connections working.

Would I buy another one? Maybe, but I find the convenience of the Starcomm (permanently mounted) to be HUGE. One cable to plug into helmet, no more screwing around with earphones and it just works.

I should have done it a long time aga but I was too cheep.

Happy to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue.

(Time to ride here in Looziana!)
