OK Gang, this may eventually end up being a candidate for NEPRT `cuz that's where it belongs!

A newly found security vulnerability in IE7 has been exploited allowing the downloading malicious software off target websites. Guess which kinda sites........yup, a Chinese **** site was the originator. Microsofts advice - use Firefox, DUH!!

Careful out there.

I was one of the first to get hacked unfortunately. I use Opera as my main browser and only switch to IE when something doesn't work properly in Opera. One of the blog sites I was reading downloaded a trojan which then proceeded to mess up my email, LiveJournal and Facebook accounts. I have a USB key with a password safe that keeps track of my online accounts; 47 passwords were changed. 3 times.

My computer was squeaky clean, right down to the browsing history and downloads (the worst I do is view Youtube and BicycleTutor videos). I'm going home early today to repair and restore the computer as AVG and Symantec have been unable to detect what virus (remains) on my computer. Total pain in the butt.

What's really bad is that some banks, and federal accounts like school loans) only work properly with IE. totally sucks.

and of course MSFT upgrades........

Microsoft announced it's going to do it "out-of-band".....which means the update will come out Wednesday. For network IT folks it means Microsoft Patch Tuesday comes twice this month....oh joy. Now if people the other 4137 exploits out there....that include many that aren't just MSFT.

There's a pretty simple maxim....if the computer has anything sticking out of it that can communicate with any other computer...it's at risk. ;)

I feel your pain. I love the "emergency updates" no one realizes outside of IT what a pain in the butt it is to push to thousands of clients, and pray too, it does not mess something else up since you do not have time to test it.
