Does anybody have any of their old rally packets from, say, the Utah 1088, the LOE1000, MD20/20, or any other one day/1000 mile-ish rally's they can post up or e-mail to me? Possibly scan them and either e-mail or Photobucket them? I have "searched" the heck out of this forum, the IBA site, and a couple of other places but all I can find are ride reports bemoaning the difficulty of the rally or how the OP screwed up (or not). Nothing about the original rally packet/bonii listing in it's original format given out by the rally organizer.

My goal is to do a couple of practice runs on old rally packets and then try to put them into the ol' GPS. Then compare the routing I did to the routing of the guy that won that particular rally. Just to see how badly/OK I do before I'm standing there in the parking lot of the motel, wondering which way to start out???

I've seen last years IBR bonii listing but that's not quit what I had in mind although I guess I coud just do 11 different runs......

This stuff's not copy-righted, is it?

Edit: Anybody in the Houston area that does this stuff? Maybe we could get together and I'll buy you a beer or something.

I know for Utah 1088 that we turn the packets back in...so none to be had. And, no....I didn't consider asking the question if I could snap copies of them for of getting the rock or worse. Not sure about others, but if they run rallies from year to year they may recycle unused bonii for future rallies and dissuade copying.

Got my SPANK 7 day, but that one makes a far larger helmet fire than any individual leg of the IBR ever would.

I think 2005 IBR Leg #2 is one of the easier straight-forward exercises similar to some 1 day rallies. I would suggest that one as an exercise. I know I did it as one of my homework assignments for the '07 IBR.

PM Beeroux,

As a Rally Bastard Master he may be willing to show you an old boni sheet, or maybe not... he is a Rally Bastard Master. :D

Rick Miller who runs the MD2020 has data out there... Ummmm, not sure what to tell you to look for... Try searching Mason Dixon 2020 Motorcycle Rally. Then you'll have to poke around his site. I seem to recall that the info isn't on the actual rally website tho... It's a start. I'm certain that you can contact Rick through the website.

However, I think it's only the waypoint and point value data, not the actual rallybook. There's a difference! But it'd be a good place to start playing with some data if you can scare it up. Most Rally Masters don't like to have that info out there. I know one for certain who specifically forbids riders from distributing the information.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Actually, Rick keeps the examples on his personal site (though there's a link from the Mason Dixon site if you dig into it). You'll find them at:

https://www.jeanandrick.org/boni-stuff.htm

And here's a plug for Rick:

While you're filching his stuff, why not sign up for his rally? As I've said elsewhere, it pulls in the best riders in the east and is also very rookie friendly (it was my first rally). If you're not an IBA member, Rick will even set you up with a predefined SaddleSore 1000 route and save you the hassle of the witness paperwork (plus you wouldn't have to route your first rally -- just show up, ride, and enjoy the camaraderie). It's a great rally with an experienced and friendly staff.

And I think this year's pre-rally dinner will feature Jim Owen giving the story of his IBR win.

The rally site is https://masondixon20-20.org/
