The thoughts..

After totaling my AE I am now in the market for another FJR (eventually). So the natural question is, will I buy another AE. Of course I will with one caveat, if I find the right deal on a non AE I will not hesitate to buy it., But another thing.. I like the color of the 09 AE (Dark Graphite sparkle) over the black

If two used bikes of equal lore were sitting side by side and one was an AE and one was not, lets say the AE was 1000 more,, I would buy the AE. I have had 35K miles to decide riding my deceased AE if it was worth it.. I think it was.

My first bike back to riding will likely NOT be an FJR as I want to get back to riding for a little less coin and I am not going to take a bank loan on anything anymore if I dont have to, so cash for a bike, but gotta save up first... , then get another FJR next year.

So I am looking at a GENII FZ1.. Here is the dilemma there.. I told myself I would not buy another bike that did not have ABS. I am comfortable without ABS but I feel that is an important safety feature, esp as often as I seem to fall off bikes recently. Alas, The FZ1 has no ABS.. BUT neither one of my getoffs had anything to do with ABS or the lack thereof

Sigh.. Random Ramblings of a bikaholic, See, when I bikeaholic is bikless,,, he sits at the computer and types up **** like in this post

Glad you are making plans to get back on a bike! Unless I missed it somewhere on this fast moving forum, I don't recall hearing anything more about the crappy condition of the road where you had your crash. Did you ever get any satisfactory response from the state of Utah about the pavement there?

And how about the involvement of the constant stream of trucks you mentioned... don't recall what they are carrying (coal?). If those trucks were not properly loaded and were spilling material on the road that added to the problem, they are culpable as well.

So, in a nutshell, any news?

If there is any validity to the concept of Karma (Kharma?), you should be stumbling into the deal of a lifetime on a used FJR right about now... after all you did to organize and administer the donation thread for Tyler. That was a tremendously good thing you did, and I hope there is a positive payback here somewhere for you!

Ahhh Yes... I have been pursuing avenues with the state.. It is a slow process.. the mining company as well.. Both are rather reticent and I am working on overcoming that first. But I do think it is safe to say I have their attention. I would imagine in their perfect world I will just give up and go away. That may have worked if I had a bike to occupy my time.. but alas, they are included in my time budget and will soon realize that inconvenient fact.

As far as riding.. I will never stop. I hope to catch a break in general and it is not from lack of effort.. Karma only works if you are not keeping score and I am not. I am just working it day by day best a guy can.. I also know I am not alone in this as many are feeling the pinch.. And so it goes

What I have found in my searching is FJ1000, FJ1100 FJ1200's are available.. I think it would be cool to have one of each.. I saw an FJ1100 for 1200 bucks.. and they keep popping up..

Fun is on the way.. I can feel it in my bones :yahoo: **Some say I am Maniac amd need help**

There is irony and poetic justice that the highway department and mining company have created the free time you need to hound them to death over the public safety issue (soon to be elevated to crisis). Situation 1. Neither the highway department nor the mining company knew about slick road conditions caused by mining operations = gross negligence and probable violation of public safety laws. Perhaps permits were not filed, filled out or the conditions were not inspected. Situation 2. They knew about the slick conditions and did nothing or hid the issue = criminal act. (That's the nice thing about not knowing anything about law or highway & mining regulations, you can say anything like this without the facts  )

If you are seriously looking at a bike that is over 10 years old be sure that parts are available. Also, here in New England many shops won't work on bikes that are more than 10-15 years old. Not an issue if you plan on doing 100% of all maintenance and repairs.

Go get 'em! You may want to send the state and mining company your references -- from your insurance company.

Robin~ No doubt you're a Maniac and need help... thats a given!

And we're here to egg you on and root for you as you make yourself the aggravating burr under the saddle we know you can be

I agree with Ionbeam that there's a certain irony and "balance" to the fact that they've helped generate the free time you will be able to use so well to stay in their collective faces! B)

Rock ON, my friend!

Heh

Ion,, I will be dong all the work myself.. I never let anyone touch my bikes.. I don want to fall off because someone forgot to install an alxle bolt or something *lol*

D, and Ion,, yes.. I think they dont like me.. but I am also sure that after salvo one (yes, we have shots fired on both fronts to date) they expect I will be like most and give up.. I will not. I am just waiting for them to blink.. then they are toast. I am bored.. and they have my attention.

I will keep everyone appraised..

Thanks... I need egging on like a $2 whore needs a *** ed class

Keep up the fight. I am going back and forth with the insurance on my wifes crash. They have found out that some of us don't give up.

It took 13 years to fight for my pension from Wa. but I won.

Don't let them get away with anything.

I had a FJ-1200 and it was one of the best bikes I ever owned. In my view you can't go wrong getting one. I you get it do a good carb clean on it.

I think the FJ-1200 models after 1991 had abs I could be off a year or so on that.

I did not have the bucks for one that sold for 1200 bucks.. I think it was a 94 as it was an import (guy was stationed in Japan) I dont htink they were bringing them in their entire production run from there

That was one of the black ones wasn't it??? If I had the money I would be picking up as many of them as I could.

Get an 08 or 09 AE. You know you want it. I like the dark gray metalic. It looks real nice sitting by my Busa.
