Hi

Has anybody done a rear brake pads change on a 2005 ABS, as I don't seem to find anything relevant on the forum. If so any advise on HOW TO would be wellcome.

Thanks

Disclaimer: Make certain parts are installed exactly as they were removed or you'll toast a rotor.

This is the short version........

1 Remove the 2 retaining bolts, then brake caliper.

2 Remove brake pads (along with the brake pad shims), brake pad springs.

3 Inspect and clean caliper as needed.

4 Install new pads, pad shims and pad springs as a set.

5 I don't bleed or drain the caliper. Instead I just compress the piston back before installing.

6 Install caliper with bolts. Torque 26Nm >>>> 19 ft-lb

Once you remove the caliper, just pull the pads straight out of the pad springs. They just float and should pull right out.

It seems a little early to change out the rear brake pads. Are you sure they are like toast?

You should be using your fronts more than the back. I swapped my front side to side first and then changed them out and I think that was around 60,000kms or about 40,000miles. I have check the back pads every time I put on a new rear tire.

Thanks for that

I did't realise it was that simple!

You're quite wright, it is too early for a change. Just wanted to clean and familiarize myself with the system.

Now it's sorted, thank you
