Does anyone know what the red button on the back side of the switch is for? Is this a Europe only thing?

I believe the bike in question is a S2 FZ6. I also believe that this is what they call a Flash To Pass button in Europe.

Thanks Scottie I was under the same impression, Now where can I get one? The knockout in the switch needs to be removed.

I seem to remember that someone had modified the existing USA left grip cluster by adding a microswitch for flash-to-pass. You may find it in a very old post on this forum, or it may have been long enough in the past that it was lost during one of the hacks or upgrades. In any case, it can be done.

I have also heard of people re-purposing the switch to operate a garage door opener. To me that would be more useful than a flash to pass button.

That button starts the self-destruct countdown sequence. Unless it's an European flash to pass button as everyone else has said. We can buy a (very expensive) European left side control pod with the button and re-purpose to a number of useful functions. Actually, I think the FJR pod has a lever type switch.

Just sayin. On my bike, the flash to pass button is directly to the left of the cruise controls. All factory installed.

C'mon. You know you want to.....

It sends a text message home saying, "Sorry honey, it'll take another 3 or 4 hours to get home". It button works best on nice sunny days.
