I was thinking of getting an R1 but the new FZ1 is looking pretty kick ass.

The 06 FZ1 will be available in red like the 05 R1. I was wondering how this paint holds up? Does it show scratches and dust easily? I like the color but if it's a pain I'll go with silver....again. :D

While it's only a couple months old and about 3000 miles on it, the Shift Red paint on my R1 has been holding up splendidly.... doesn't appear to be as soft as the silvers and blues use on the FJR....

Another data point: there is currently a used 2004 R1 at Sunnyside that still has its red paint looking just fine.

I have ridden the hell out of mine in all kinds of weather and it still looks brand new.

I  the Red R1.

That specific red is awesome. Is the EXACT same shade the '06 FZ1 color ?

Remember the FZ6 had Galaxy Blue a year B4 the 05 FJR had it.

Thinking of upgrading the Fizz XLR8 ????

Ya, XLR8 you have a real dilemma on your hands…update to that awesome “shift red“ ‘06 FZ1 or go with a ’05 red R1? I remember earlier this spring there were some deals to be had on a brand new ’04 R1 for 7,500 OTD plus tax. Be patient and when the new ‘06s arrive you will have much leverage in the price department regarding left-over ‘05s. Also, you may want to wait to see if the Suzuki Boost King materializes in '06. Could be a real great hoolie bike and blow away the Fizzy. Not holding my breath though. Best of luck in your decision. :D

Well, I don't know. I seem to be pretty wishy washy and go back and forth a lot. I've always found the FZ1 to be a little ugly (but really fun) and I always loved the look of the R1 but it seems impractical. But now they've announced the new FZ1 and it's a blend between the two ya know? But my 03 FZ1 is still pretty newish with only 8000 miles on it so there's lots more life in it and I kind of had a second wind with it after getting new Metzler Z6s. The new FZ1 is nice though.

BTW, I'm sure the red on the 06 FZ1 is the same as the R1 red.

Also, you may want to wait to see if the Suzuki Boost King materializes in '06.
And then lately for some unknown reason to me, I've got a thing for the Busa which I've always found to be really really ungodly ugly and now it's growing on me! This is a terrible disease.

XLR8...we seem to think a lot alike. I also like the Busa and you don’t even want to know the quandary my mind has been racing through for another bike. Here’s something below for ya to add to the mix. LOL! It’s *supposedly* the new ZZR1300(190 hp to the crank)...make sure you scroll down to the bottom for best pics. I love the front end…absolutely sinister. :diablo: It’s a love or hate bike just like the Busa and is intended to dethrone the Busa as the leader of the desert blasters/GT bikes. Lastly, it is very possible that this will be the year (’06) of the revised Busa and remember…the Suzuki Boost King should share the power plant. Confused??? LOL Happy shopping. ;)

I saw this bike last night. I'm not sure what it is about this bike but I've always liked it and although many don't like this new one I think it's cool and the front is mean.

Although I already have a "heavier" sport tourer I'll have to check this one out when/if it arrives.
