We need for every one attending CFO to register. It does not cost anything, but we need just a little information so we can put on a great event for everyone. Even if you have already sent me a message saying you're coming, please fill out the registration form. It'll just take a couple of minutes.

Click the link below. It will ask if you want to download a Microsoft Word document. Say yes, then complete the form, save it, and email it to the address on the form.

Or, if you want, just copy the registration info below, paste it into a message, answer the questions, and send it to me:

Will you attend the banquet Saturday night, Sept. 22? YES or NO?

(The cost of the banquet will be $20 per person, including tax and tip. Beverages are extra.)

If attending banquet, Choose one:

1. Jager Schnitzel (a German dish, the specialty of the house), or

2. Ribeye steak Prime Rib

Are you interested in an escorted behind the scenes 2-hour tour to the top of Mount Rushmore? YES or NO?

(The tour will be limited to 12 people. It involves a fairly strenuous hike cross-country up a fairly steep hill, then climbing about 50 steps; about 1/2 mile each way. It will probably be Saturday morning, September 2, with a drawing the evening before to determine who will be selected to participate.)

If you have any questions, or have trouble, send me a message. We're here to help :)

Mount Rushmore guided tour sounds like a great idea. I have been to Rushmore, but not the top. How stiff a hike is it? I parked in the "free" lot when I was there in 02 and walked up the hill to the viewing area. I do a brisk walk, but on flat ground, of 2 1/2 miles each morning.

However at 72 years of age I do not go up the hills like I used to do. So, more information would be helpful for me. Such as:

Fairly steep is 30% grade or more like 10%? Cross country is no path, boulder hopping, brush crashing or a walk in the piney woods? Total distance is how much. Elevation is approximately?

Many thanks for all the work you are doing for the get to gather. I have wanted to get back to the Black Hills since I was there in 02. This gives me the perfect opportunity.

We will have a drawing to determine who gets the 12 escorted tour passes to the top of Mount Rushmore. Only a few hundred people each year get this opportunity.

The hike to the top of Mount Rushmore is somewhat strenous, but not difficult, as long as a person has no serious disabilities. There is no improved trail, but there's a well-worn path. There is no boulder-hopping or brush crashing. The grade is approximately 10-25%. The bottom 3/4 is the well worn path; the top 1/4 is a steep staircase. I'm guessing about the elvation change, but it's at least several hundred feet. The distance is approximately 1/2 mile each way.

There are a few hard to find free places to park at Mount Rushmore. The fee to park in the parking structure is $8, which is good for one year.

Jackson -- Just sent you my registration information. Again, thanks for all the work on this!!!!

A reminder...... If you're coming to CFO NEXT MONTH (wow, time flies!), check post #1 above for registration info. It's free, but we just need a little info.

Also, I'll be posting information soon about how to obtain an Official CFO shirt BEFORE you leave home for CFO. You'll be able to wear it enroute and as you arrive. Pretty cool, huh?
