For screws, I also find good use with an impact screwdriver and a dead blow hammer. With screws (with or without the impact driver), it's important to choose the correct tip (JIS v/s Phillips, #1 v/s #2 size, etc).

PB Blaster and a little patience is some really effective stuff.

A cheap plumber's torch to apply heat to threads that have locktite on them is a miracle.

 
That engine block (with the busted exhaust stud) looks like it laid on the bottom of the ocean for a few decades. The tools being used to remove the stud are worth way more than the entire vehicle probably.
