About a month ago I had a rear tire blowout on my 2004 Yamaha FJR. Bike wasn't badly damaged trying to repair but rear wheel got scuffed up. I'm looking for a new wheel but according to my websites I use the wheel has been discontinued. Are the FJR wheels interchangeable like the exhausts? I know ABS version woud be different but I have the standard model of 2004. I'm hoping to find a rear wheel and trailer hitch soon and get back to riding.

Wow, it's really unusual for a modern tubeless tire to have a blowout. Glad it came out ok. Except for color the bare wheels are interchangeable.

I had an 03 NON ABS fjr and when I bought an ABS rear wheel to put my Car Tire on, there were several things that were different. I don't know how this will affect your bike, but I just want you to be aware that there are SIGNIFICANT differences in the number of bearings AND the length of the collars {because of the difference in number of bearings}, and the size of the oil seal on the brake side of the wheel. You can go to any of the websites that sell fjr parts and put in your model year and see the different parts you might need. To encourage you, though, the Gen.2 wheel DID FIT on my 03 when I got the right parts, AND the same wheel fit on my 07 when I changed bikes later on. [just had to put the 07 collars and oil seal on. Of course a non ABS wheel would NOT work on an ABS bike but it will go the other way.

Just to be specific, the 03 has TWO bearings in the non brake side and therefore the inner collars are different lengths, and the oil seal on the brake side was smaller on the non ABS 03. This all sounds complicated but it's really not, just be sure you look on the parts diagram for the year your buying and your year to be sure they have the same part numbers.
