I Have a burned out bulb in my insturment cluster. ...tells me other bullbs may be soon to follow.

(yes searched) Not able to find any info on the type of replacement bulbs ...also any "HOW TO" pointers would be helpful if anyone has been there done that.

Anyone replaced their insturment cluster bulbs??? Thanks

Oh yes, BTDT this year. The whole front end has to be removed to get at these little bad boys. I'm a little busy right now, but at WFO I'll show you a couple of things I learned about removing lights, plastic, etc that will make the job somewhat easier. OTOH, get the beer flowing, and we'll tear right into 'er in the parking garage!!

Skyway's done it, but he's too selfish to do a write-up. IIRC, rather extensive and expensive for all the bulbs. Order them from UM (866-551-6478, ask for Mike K.), then go for it, once you budget enough time. Maybe call Skyway, :dntknw:

Don't forget to take pictures and post up all about it.

And put in some HID's while you're at it.

I concur that Skyway has a nice shortcut. At TechWest I had my nose off and back on in less than 2 hours with tools on the bike....and that included the various HID madness I have under there.

It's like 7 or 9 bulbs under there for Gen. I bikes. Don't recall the bulb type right now, but would be in the service manual or digging around the site possibly for +cluster +instrument +bulb.

Thanks for all the help, thoughts, ideas and words of wisdom.

Looks like a half-*** PIA to do this.

I've put this project on my (LONG) list of things to do this late fall when I have to strip the bike down anyway. Likey will do it when I re-do the forks, head bearings, valve adjstment, upgrade lights(?), new high velocity deer whistles, replace my hack electical connections with a true BUSS and perhaps throw in a new set of fuzzzy dice while I'm at it.

Thanks again, I'll do this in a few months and will take pics.

Hey, does anybody know if there is a substitute LED bulb for the OEM part number?

Bill
