Posting about reputation in FJR Specific Discussion won't help, and I'm a bit nervous replying.

Someone has to like your post enough to vote it up (see green + sign at lower right of every post), or you have to piss someone off enough to have them hit the red - sign. FWIW, positive reputation seems to be given out rarely, and for unexpected posts. For example, you can bust your hump helping someone out with a technical problem and nothing. Make fun of Bustanut's sheep fetish and suddenly you're a more reputable and upstanding human being.

Yep! That sums it up pretty well. :) I'd say, don't pay any attention to the points. It'll drive you crazy!

I've never clicked on either the positive or negative, and never knew what they were. Just curious, on your post, TominCA, there's a "1" inside a green box. What's that mean anyway? Is that good or bad, positive or negative?

Not any more ! ! ! ! !

See how useless it is???
I blame it on flat land and impending arctic freezes in your neighborhood. By next spring, you'll feel better and vote me up again. :p

Besides, every time you give negative rep, a puppy cries.

IMO the "Reputation" button is utterly useless and silly.

Tough crowd!

I see GeorgiaRoller got a (-) for this. The system I guess won't (can't) work well if you get this for just an "IMO" post. After all isn't this what Forums are about? Now if you are blatantly rude or disrespectful I can see the (-) but personally I think it gets abused at least from it's initial intension.

Of course this is IMO... and oh boy, here we go agian! lol

It's ok...trust me I won't loose any sleep over it! ;)

It is a **** load easier to build a kingdom than it is to tear one down! You get either 3 or 5 pluses a day (I don't recall exactly which it is), but only 1 minus.

hi guys. curious how one gets or looses reps points? tks for ur info
Cultivate your "groupies". Tell them every chance you get how awesome you are and what you can or have accomplished with your god-like powers. Have them hang to every word you utter. Have them follow you around like puppies (no pun intended). Have your groupies recruit other groupies to join your merry band...and watch that reputation meter climb to the stratosphere!

Scratch that. I know someone like that and I can barely stand him anymore. Sorry for wasting your time..
