Greetings fellow Forum members:

I have been making my monthly payments to Retail Services, as I'm sure some of you have as well.

Anyway, on my next payment I'm going to pay it off, write payment-in-full on the check i.e.

Has anyone had any troubles or unnecessary delays in having the pink slip mailed to them once your loan was paid off to retail services?

Thanks.

I didn't have any problems paying off my Ninja with them. I did however, call and ask for a payoff amount, and a good till date. I sent the $ in a week before the good til date expired, and promptly recieved the pink.

Don't forget to contact your insurance company and make sure they know there is no longer any lien on your bike.

I didn't notice this in my policy till this month and I paid off my bike 2 years ago...

Not likely a big deal, but in the event that the bike gets totaled, you don't want the check to go to the wrong place.

Good ideas, both. Thanks.

Hmm, funny thing. On my insurance policy for my 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, which has been paid off for years, it still says "financed". Maybe I should consider that. Thanks.

when you pay off a vehicle you should get all the paperwork needed to clear the title. don't put off updating your title because any insurance claim or decision to sell will be delayed until you do. there will be a big dance around the lien holder getting involved even though they no longer hold an interest.

I paid mine off in the no interest period and recieved the title with 'no lien holder' within the 30 day period promised. No complaints here.

[bump]

Beware! They send the pink slip in this cheesy, very unofficial looking envelope. Important documents enclosed, etc. Looks like re-fi ad material.

I almost threw it away without opening it.
