Just wanted to let my buddies know that I am back in CA from my trip to FL. Did 4800 miles on the 05 FJR with Tanji Fuel Cell and it was a safe trip. Had a great family reunion with my daughter, Sister(70th birthday celebrated), cousins and brother-in-law. Took it easy going down and rode only 800 miles per day and then camped in available motels. Gas is way cheap back east, down in Mississippi to 2.10 per gal, regular.

Did a combo of mostly slabs and secondary roads. Averaged overall 62.1 mph per my GPS trip calculator.

Look forward to starting up the Thursday rides next week.

Welcome home Dave! Sounds like you had a great trip, even if it was at a girly pace.

So how come you didn't take the spiffy new AE for the trip? And whatcha gonna do with that Tanji cell? What color is your underwear?

Scotter, took the 05 as it had new rubber on it, the AE is needing rubber soon(8k miles). Also wanted to see if I could still shift the 05, BlueJay, without grinding the gears(have gotten lazy with the AE, Flicker).

I am going to keep the 05 and the Tanji cell and intend to mount Bob Vail's hitch on the 05 soon. But want to get a cell for the AE.

Drawers??, What Drawers!!

PS I passed through Casa Grande yesterday at 1400 hrs On I 8 to avoid Phoenix traffic and the temp was 110 and did not have your tele #. Talk to you soon and be careful. :yahoo:

Glad you made it back safely, sounds like you had a good time visiting with your family.

TurboDave,

YOU ROCK!

...and I love the understatement... only 800 a day.. :D

Great to hear you made it home safe and (sane?). Just curious, for LD rides, do you prefer one over the other? AE vs. A?

Its great to see you made it back and no problems.

But I must say turbo "D" you must be related to the entergizer bunny, cause you keep going and going and going....... There is no stopping you now :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Great job Dave! Glad your trip was safe & enjoyable. :clapping:

So what was the fuel economy with all that cheap and superior non-CA gas?

Toe, I averaged 62 mph per my GPS calculator for the 4800 miles I rode. My average mpg on the 05 was right at 47 mph. Pretty good I think for running mostly at 75-80 mph on the interstates throughout the trip.

Here is the better shot of Guadalupe Peak, the tallest mountain in TX. is just south of Carlsbad NM, just over the borde in TX. Remind me of the Devils Watchtower. It is located along a great curvy steep grade in TX.

Sounds like a great trip Dave... glad you made it home safe and sound! Nice picture too!

Way to go, TD. Thanks for the pics.

I hope to see you again at the next WFO. Now that the word is out that the man-b00b champeenchip is included with the WFO conference fee and there is no cover, finding anyone at the next WFO may be a challenge. Of course, the cognoscente always seem to find the local slick track for a late-night grudge match.
