Just got a call from Karen, Rick's lovely wife, and the report is that his knee surgery (yesterday) went extremely well. He's already walking with the aid of a walker so look to him to be on the FJR really soon :clapping:

Coulda sworn at first glance this was in Classifieds. Talk about a head crank.

Whatever you had done, listen to the docs, don't push it, rehab right, and you'll be good to go. See you out there!

Rick, take care for a speedy recovery. good luck with the whole deal!!

Have a speedy and full recovery, Rick. And they give you pain meds for a reason when they saw or drill bones. Damn, but that's gotta hurt to stand up for a while. Hang in there and get well before the really nice weather hits and we start missing you on rides!!

Good news! :yahoo: I know he had to cut a couple rides short. We went on a ride down the delta to Rio Vista and he was "all done". Can't wait for the Physical terror-py to be completed. Until then, there's all that, "Honey, get me this..." stuff.

Et tu, Roger? Keep us up with your news.

Big coincidence today. Turns out that Rick is in the same hospital as my eldest son, Andy, so we got to visit with him a couple of times today.

He's doing real good - already walking around the ward perimeter and started on phys. therapy.

He has himself a brand new left knee joint, custom made to fit, in titanium --------- hard to beat that for a farkle

He goes home tomorrow so save the candy and flowers till you see him next :)

One thing I didn't think I'd see --------- Rick-in-a dress !! You call it a gown -- still looks like a dress -- cute knees Rick  He sends his "hello's" to you all.

ps. Good thoughts for my son would really be appreciated - he could use them. Thanks. I know Rick won't mind the small hi-jack.

Heal quickly Rick!

Maybe we could have a bike wash to help with your therapy?

We will stand around while you wash our bikes, sounds like good therapy to me!

Roger, my thoughts are with your son

Rick, if you knee'd anything, just let us know. ;)

Roger, hoping things make a turn for the better for your son, we'll miss having you guys along this weekend. :(

GWS Rick!

Take care of that new farkle and it should last you a while

maintenance on me so far:

left foot

left knee

right shoulder

Rehab is a PITA specially at start, but it's worth it---stick with it!

Best wishes from Mississippi

Why'd you use plural, RogDeb? Cute knee, no? Best of luck Rick - hope to see you on future rides. Have an aunt who got new hips about 15 years ago - she's still the ultimate happy camper and as far as technology has improved since, I'd say you have pretty good odds your new bionic parts will work out (fingers crossed for luck). It's one of the reasons I'm happy I'm at the a**-end of the baby-boom - the docs can practice on all you guys and gals for 17 or 18 years before it's my turn for a rebuild (assuming I wear out at about the same rate) - So, THANKS.

RogDeb - Good luck to your son. Hope his diabetes is responsive to diet/therapy.

Good luck Rick, I'm at 3 weeks tomorrow on my new titanium left knee, walking about 500yds with a cane, the physio is a real "pain

"though.
