Took the old rust-bucket up to Rick Mayer for pilot + pillion saddles. Kathy was supposed to go with me, but that four letter word (WORK) came up ....the hospital needed her.

So left Reno at 4:00a and got to my first of the day appointment with Rick before 8:00a. Nice to be the first one as you get the full attention. -Especially on Saturday many bikes come loitering in.

It had been about 2.5years since being at Rick's and he now has a nice new shop ....with a nice lounge area equipped with bike DVD's, magazines, books, computers for surfing the web .....nice nice nice!!

Here is my original saddle ...actually this was about the only ride that I used the OEM as I took off a Corbin Canyon before heading to Rick.

Rick finished the pilot saddle and I took it out for a ride ...came back and asked him to make a few adjustments which he gladly did ....and I took another ride another ride ....Perfect, exactly what I was looking for.

...back home the finished product

Rick does a great job ...and the experience of doing a Ride-In with Rick is good fun. 5-thumbs-up from renojohn.

(ps: on the way home I hit La Porte road ...just opened the week before ....for those who've ridden it ....I need say no more.)

Ain't that a kick in the jimmies... I was at Rocky's joint getting my Wabs re-seated today. Met another forum member with his AE FJR, too. Richard from SP.

Well, you had better luck than me dealing with Rick. It's been over a year and he still has not returned my $500 seat pan deposit. He does not dispute that he owes it to me. He just will not return it.

I've always had good service from Rick. To me he's a stand up guy and in my dealings with him, he has always wanted to be sure I'm satisfied with his product. Might try giving him another contact, hopefully something got lost in the last translation.

Rick has now returned my deposit. Now when I look at that good looking saddle, I wont have that (I got taken) feeling.

Thanks Rick.

This past June, my buddy (on a BMW R1200GSA) and I made a road trip up there to see Rick and get 2 seats made. Rick treated us very well, was just a fun day. The seat is so awesome! By far the best farkle on my "04 FJR. What a difference. Since then, I have put over 5k on the seat, gets better the more I ride!

One story from that day: There was a 70 year old BMW rider who is a friend of Rick's there, he tells us about this alt route home. Takes us through Black Butte, on to 306 past Stonyford area, Elk Creek, kept going, kinda got a bit lost, was on a dirt road for a long time, finally came out just outside of Williams, on 20, WOW, a 500 plus mile day! A bit sketchy there for a bit since we were basically LOST! Was an adventure for sure.

Anyway, Rick is a great guy and makes a great seat!
