This will be my first "extended" (I know this isn't extended by some standards) ride on the FJR if nothing comes up at work and the storm slated for Thursday is gone... We're planning on leaving around 8:30am and riding about 380 miles. I'm thinking with stops and lunch, we're looking at around 8 hours. Does that sound about right?

When you get over to bankhead, check out the new MC resort and give a report link

Up around Fort Payne be sure to ride Little River Canyon State Park. Its a good ride.

Jeremy,

One things for sure, that route looks better than being at work!! :p Personally I would go further north up near Chattanooga, more hills and some pretty good roads. Hope you enjoy your ride!!

So it looks like hwy. 278 and 69 are the same road for a while west of Cullman. Lynn to Cullman has some pretty good sweepers. Watch your speed through Addison... it's about 17 miles from Double Springs. I think they work on commission. You'll only be a couple of miles from D&H at one point where you cross over I-65. Have fun.

We had to shorten our trip because one of the guys needed to be back by 3... We still had fun though, rode up beside lake guntersville, over to Fort Payne, up to Mentone, and back down to Little River Canyon. Great day for riding too, 48 this morning and 65 by the end of the day... Totaled up around 275 miles, plus some good BBQ from Golden Rule in Fort Payne.

Looks like ya’ll had a good day.

Sky was pretty in my area today, temperature was nice too, but the wind was vicious!

Looks like a great trip. One question, how did you map your trip electronically like that? When I use MapQuest and Google Maps, I can only do one leg at a time.

Looks like he is using Microsoft Streets and Trips Software. Works pretty well for planning trips and such.
