Okay, All, Adventure Motorsport Riders Club invites one and all for this ride.

We're meeting at Adventure Motorsports in Monroe at 8:45am. Kickstands up at 9am. It's going to be a long day!

We'll take a few twisty Snohomish backroads to Granite Falls, then north on Jordan Road, north on Highway 9, scoot to south Big Lake starting at Finn-Settlement Road, the back way to Clear Lake, then again north on Highway 9 to Sedro-Woolley, through Kendall, across the border at Sumas, then north on BC 11 into Mission.

There's a city festival going on in Mission at the riverside park and some twisties just north and west of Mission.

Remember to bring your passports. We'll stop a few places to rest our bodies, gas up, eat, etc.

Pace will be fairly easy. Type of bike don't matter!

...only a party of five but an enjoyable putt nevertheless!

I generally shy away from group rides, especially with unknown riders but the day was without incident and laid back enough to take in the scenery (and dodge bicyclists). 'Rural Relaxation' seemed to be the 'modus operandi' with a few occassional blitzes past some plodding vehicular obstructions. Plans changed and the B.C. border crossing was altered to a run to Vista Point at the very end of the Mt. Baker Hwy. A classic car club comprised of British Prestige vehicles were on parade, older Rolls Royces, a Bently from way back and one or two other marques. Too old for a.c so the tourers must've been a bit scorched???

On the way north, a very good lunch , with generous portions was partaken and enjoyed by all as we mused on some 'stories of the road'. (Steve will have to come up with the name/ location of the eatery).

Winding down the end of the day (275 miles and the FJR did it in one tank of gas, only 11 miles on reserve  ), We sort of split up the last hour and went our ways..., me chasing down some Milwaulkee Iron and doing away with them which was the adrenal release I was in need of for the last hour or so. Well, wouldn't you know it ..., someone always has to come along and spoil the party. No..., we're not talking performance awards here, we're talking Babs. Who is Babs??? (my nickname for the beast: Barbarian and Beautiful. This creature snuck up on me from behind, and for a few miles it was 'game on' (all very discretionany and mutually acknowledged). Note to FJR owners... turn your head (or bike) the other way if you find yourself in the presence of a 200 H.P. ZX 14. I was humbly impressed!!!! The final few miles were dialed back down to a mellowed out mode.

Enjoyed meeting all and a good ride. Nobody crowded or pushed or passed one another. All were m/c enthusiasts and mutually friendly and conversive. Thanks to Steve for dragging us along. He's got some polishing to do now :yahoo:

Perhaps only of interest to those on the ride , are two links below.

1) is on the Rattlesnake Grade with an active thread on Hell's Canyon Road on STnet:

2) is on one of the first FJR group rides near seven years ago. We were a little too foot loose , new to the bikes, and new to each other. (which is why I approach unknown group rides cautiously). Taken from FJRowners Archives:
