https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasant_Valley_War Khunajawdge: I have a Zane Grey novel I am going to loan you when I see you: "To The Last Man: A Story of the Pleasant Valley War!" I am in the process of buying a vacation mountain resort home in Young, Arizona. Rode my dual sport up there last Sunday and I am taking the Kawasaki KLR 650 up there on 8/17.

We Arizonans are famous for our gunfights: Six-shooter Colt's and lever action Winchester's settled our Grand Canyon State

We fought the westernmost battle of the Civil War at Picacho Peak; I think that SkooterG even crashed there once or twice.

The quick shootout at the OK Corral in Tombstone between the Earp's and the Clanton's was a cake walk, compared to the 1886-1892 raging battle between the Tewksburys and the Grahams' along the Mogollon Rim and Tonto Basin terrain below it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Horn Legendary Arizona Lawman, later to turn Outlaw, gunfighter/scout Tom Horn fought it.

I just found out my nephew that is in the Marines is deploying to Iraq. I am going to Twenty-nine Palms, CA to see him off on Aug 24th. I passed my room on to Joe. Please make sure you all take lots of pictures for me.

Thanks!

Dude!

Youse gots to quit bailing on us!

BC: You're doing a good thing and wish him the best from AZ FJR. Just Thank God he's a Jarhead, instead of a damn Squid.

However, our revered SkooterG is correct: Dude, You have got to quit bailing on us! Listen to your Papa Chuy! To make up for these past rides you have bailed on, you must don your rosary and do penance. You are now required to be on the Devil's Highway Ride on September 14 and must attend church in Laughlin with AZ FJR Forum and SOCAL on November 7!!

Well BC might not be there but I will.

We were to share a room, so now I have an extra bed if needed.

See you all on the 23rd at 7AM.

Now need to figure out whether to get a hotel room,

or leave Tucson at 4:30 AM.

I have a week to figure this out.

Joe

I know, I'm a knob, but it is for a good reason. I'm not gonna say if I'm going on any future rides, I'll just show up.

No worries and no sweat, Burk; just make the rides when you can! It could be worse: You could post a ride as the leader, and then bail out on it later, and leave your Papa Chuy to run the event. Right vectervp1, do we know someone like that???

So what's the total body count for the ride?

I'll hook up in Flagstaff for breakfast provided breakfast at Charly's at 09:00 is still a go?

Greetings Big-D: Yes, unless my co-leader gets some more air time on the ride up; we will see you at 0900 at Charly's Grill.

SkooterG, BadCat, and I had dinner Wednesday night and we were trying to count noses; and we think the count is twenty.

Leading AZ FJR Forum members is a lot like herding cats, except it's a hell of a lot easier leading cats than FJR owner/riders!

It's nice to see we'll have some nice weather riding up and back. With all of the rain (and hail) Flagstaff has been getting, I was hoping for a break with some sunshine.

If the sitter comes thru Kiki will be coming with me. I have to change the crappy dunlop roadsmart tires (6k, F&R shot) out this week & new oil....

Why am I not surprised? My kids are telling me that Flagstaff has got more rain this year than in the 4-5 years they have been attending school (professional students) there. Like clockwork, thunder & rain starting around 4pm, lasts until about 5pm, then quits and clears up. I told them yesterday "No, you are wrong because I received a weather report from Don and we are going to have nice sunny weather the whole weekend"

Reminds me of my days living in Colorado, when you could plan your weekends around the afternoon rain/ hail storms.

https://www.southwestrides.com/vbulletin/sh...80681#post80681 Check this out Big-D! Friends of mine in Arizona Triumph RAT Club rode their British Iron on '666' Devil's Highway last weekend and hit snow at Hannagan Meadow.

WHAT THE ****, OVER! Snow in the State of Arizona: IN AUGUST! It's been wacky weather here in the Southwest 2008.
