That's the Dolomites, in the Eastern quarter of the Alps. Say, 150 miles N of Venice.

Nice photos and a great area. I hiked in the area for a few days. You can take a cable car to the top ridgeline in certain areas and hike hut to hut and spend the night bunk style in the alpine hut system eating great food and Euro beers!! Have never ridden a bike there but they have tremendous scenic roads.

 
My Mom was right, I just can't get away with anything. LOL! But I do recall her telling me that the Rockies outside of Jackson Hole were "the Alps of America". But while I have never been to Venice, Italy, I did go back East once, got all the way to So. Dakota before I lost interest and turned southwest. ;)
