I had the silver plastic piece, just below the tank (hence named the tank collar) painted in 08 black by Garauld.

Now I want to have it wrapped with 3M clear bra to protect the finish, as I've done with the tank. But the 3M installer wants it to cure for 6 weeks before putting on the 3M.

Since I don't want to scratch it then put 3M over it, it's sitting on a book case in my house, curing.

Question (finally): Since the collar is off, will this likely cause problems riding in the rain?

Thanks.

I would not think it would be a problem unless you have a faulty wire under the tank/seat. In that case, it would not matter if you had the tank collar on or off if it was to get wet.

I think 6 weeks is kinda long for the paint to cure. I had clear bra on a car and when the fender got creamed they replaced it within days.

But I admit I'm no painter.

I think for that piece of your bike you could easily do it your self.

xpel.com sells it by bulk and it's the good 3m stuff.

Just a thought?
