Just purchased a 2007 with 1100 miles. My first question, Will the Rifle +3 +4 stand up to WFO?

There's never been a report of any windshield ever coming off at FJR max. It's almost like the engineers at Yamaha planned for people to put aftermarket windshields on their bike.

I have a +5 +4 for Winter and never an issue at a ton or above. It is a sail though, but I have had no problems. I think their hardware and the angel bracket keep it attached just fine. There is a fair amount of hardware that comes with them.

I have the +5H, +4W and set it just slightly off of full up. No problems at sustained speeds (>75mph).

1100 miles. That's quite a bit less than a mile a day average since new, but then I guess there aren't too many good riding days for hard working people in Alaska.

Way down here in Canada I already have 2600 miles this year. I guess I don't work that hard  .

I've had my Rifle +5 +4 up over a ton many times, and maybe over a ton and a quarter a few times, with absolutely no problems.

Wow, like others have commented, that's low mileage!!

Thank you for all the responses. I also have a gen1 FZ1. The stunning black and yellow. It is 26 degrees as I type this, yes gets a bit chilly. We live 10 miles from Denali NP. Very little Road patrol here ( except Anchorage area), so I took er up to a buck forty on the way home. Was planning on buying a rifle as that seems to be the consensus, but when I wicked er up it made me wonder if all the pieces and parts of the rifle would survive. Even as is though so much better coverage than the FZ. The previous owner was a slope worker with way too many summer toys, hence the low mileage.

Wow, a 2007 with 1100 miles....think about that.
What a find. Who buys these things and parks them like that? There must be new-in-the-box FJRs hidden in garages all over the world!
It's really sad. My girl spent the first four years of her life in a similar state. Sat on the showroom floor for two years before the first owner bought her in 2010, then he put less than 1500 miles on her between then and when I bought her in January (of this year).

Thankfully, all she needed was a clutch soak, oil and final-drive fluid change, and a new front tire (apparently nobody ever once put air in it).

Proud to contribute to the neverendingness of this NEPRT. :)

I purchased a Rifle +3 +4 a couple of years ago and will give you this warning. I am 5'10 and thought I would need the plus three. I found that for some reason full up it is at least three or four inches too high. I have to look through instead of over it unlike my stock shield. I could live with this by just not raising the shield to where I am looking over it. The problem is not enough cooling air in Summer with the shield all the way down. I am going to cut three or four inches off of it as soon as I puchase a jig saw.
