Too young and too sad, enjoyed watching him on the track. From the write up...

Dane Westby's long-time friend and former mechanic Dustin Meador visited the crash site and believes that skid marks at the scene indicate that Westby was trying to avoid something in his path. "There's a burger joint across the street there and I think someone was rolling out of there and he was trying to avoid getting hit," said Meador. "He was in the left-hand tire track of the right lane. The skid marks start out going straight and then veer off toward the curb. He was on the brakes. To me it was pretty obvious that he was trying to avoid something."

Truly tragic...I could not believe it when I read about it this morning...as a Tire Marshal at the AMA races at Mid-Ohio for the last five years, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Dane, a genuinely nice guy. Motorcycle racing has lost one of the good guys. RIP Dane

So young, so very sad. I hope his family can find some peace in dealing with this tragedy, and may Dane Rest In Peace.

RIP. Too young to go.

Amen to that.

This sucks.

I live less than two miles from where this happened...that intersection is pretty sucktacular. Old streets (read: narrow, and of poor quality), with way too much traffic going through there. And that burger joint has its entrances way too close to the corner/intersection.
