Seeing the seat height drops over 2" getting the Corbin seat for the '06, how many of you Corbin seat dudes got risers after? Lowering the seat effectively raises the bars, I'd imagine.

Thoughts? Send 'em!

I was asking myself the same thing. I don't have the bike, but I did order the Corbin seat (even lower) so I'll be ready. Also ordered a set of risers, but I hope I don't end up feeling like I have APE HANGERS!

Also, not necessarily getting the bars UP, but getting them BACK is a concern. I think Doug and I are about the same size, so hopefully, if they work for him, they'll work for me.

Oh well, I got 'em (ordered) if I need em. Better to have them and not need them, than vice versa.

Yeah, bringing them BACK is what I'm more after, also, without having hangers.

Let's see if any other short folk reply to this with thoughts.

I've got the risers mounted and corbin ordered. i'm 5'6. i dont believe you'll feel as though the bars are too high. i think it will just make it that much more comfortable. the risers decreased my wrist pain 80% from stock. i have them set pretty close to the stock angle. i'm getting ready to do some experimentation with the rotation aspect of the risers. I was originally concerned that rotating them back towards me would have an effect on wrist pressure since your narrowing the playing field. also, the risers really dont have a huge amount of rotation adjustment. Doug warns you in his documentation, not to take this rotation to any extremes. He has his dialed in about a half inch. I'm going to try that without the corbin to see what effects it has. Then when the corbin arrives, see if further adjustment is necessary. my estimate is that your arms will be level (or a very slight downward angle) with the bars with a corbin / riser combination. The other situation that this combination brings to the forefront is what will result with the stock windshield. I was going to replace the windshield to reduce buffeting and noise. It will be interesting to see what changes in that arena with that combination.

Of course, since I don't have my AE yet, I can't say anything about the stock shield, or rider position, whatever. But as far as buffeting and windshield reports go, looks like the V-stream might fit the bill. Over the winter, I was riding behind a CB 4+4 and now it's just too darn big and hot. So back to the stock shield that is "tuned" to tip even lower. Now, on the '06, I'm hoping to do the same thing with the V-stream and get the best of both worlds... a stock sized shield with reduced buffetting. I'll probably tune that one too... if they ever get them out on the shelves in time for WFO.

The V-stream was supposed to be available for the '06 by the end of June. I've emailed them again for the status of their production.

Thanks for the report, GG!

The V stream was put off another 6 weeks due to some design issues for the 06. The problem with the v stream is that it probably wont be the same size as stock. as a matter of fact, it may be quite a bit bigger that stock +3+3. The V stream makers arent saying much about sizing for the new shield.

And thanks again for THAT GG!! Well, behind the stocker to WFO it is. Unless you have another suggestion?

I found this on Heli's website last night and have emailed them to find out about getting on their waiting list and if they know yet how much the risers will cost. I can let y'all know more when they reply.

I wish i could help you out of that mess. the stock screen is loud as hell and beats you to death. I just got back from the honda hoot (1300 miles / 3.5 days). Took 48 hours for my ears to stop ringing (and i wear plugs the entire time (which i highly recommend)). It's very doable, but not optimal. If the Vstream is the size of a barn door, i'll probably go with the cee bailey since its: 1. cheaper than the CAL Sci 2. Get good reviews for the 06 (since the 06 has a built in method for backpressure (so it doesnt need the holes cut into it like the CAL SCI has) 3. cee bailey does wind tunnel testing on there screens.

If its within an inch and a half of stock in height, and within 3 inches of stock in width, i'm goin for it.

oh, and by the way......buy a crampbuster for the trip. its a 10 dollar buy that you wont regret.

GG, I started a thread on the Crampbusters. I can't agree more!

FJRChik, please post what they tell you. I'm interested myself.

No cramp buster for me. I have an Audiovox ready to throw on there.

I also have a CB winshield waiting, but it's a plus size. Don't think I want to use it on the ride to WFO, but given what you're saying, I may not hesitate to slice and dice the stocker.

Oh, and I did get a set of CB headlight guards for the '06. After 27K, my '04 lenses are a little pitted. Much rather just throw away the guard. Saves rubbing and polishing...

Guys, give us a shout when you are all set up so we know how the combo works for you. My stuff probably won't be here until the week that I leave.

I just received my Corbin Saturday and have put 150 miles on the bike since. I love the lower seating position! I now have less pressure on my arms and I feel I have better control of the bike. I was worried about my legs being more bent but I really can't tell it at all. And yes, the screen is now raised an inch.5 more too! No risers or taller screen for me. I am 5'8 with 29" inseam.

All she wrote back so far is that they added my email address to the list. No price info yet. That's all I got for now.

guys,

just to add my 2 cents, I got my Corbin on Saturday, so far it's absolutely great. No issue with the 1"-2" drop, I'm 5'10" so that wasn't an issue. Seat is narrower and fits your butt a hell of a lot better.
