Hi. I'm taking a trip from southwest Virginia to Mill Run, Pa, about an hour southwest of Pittsburg and would really appreciate suggestions for "Must ride" roads in the area. I'm going primarily to tour the Fallingwaters house and will most likely be camping at Laurel Hill State Park, but should have time for other adventures.

Anyone interested in riding along with the trip is welcome, too.

Thanks,

Chris F.

There is an "H" at the end of Pittsburgh! Some of them there folks are kinda funny 'bout that "H". Just don't want you to wind up like Ned Beatty in " Deliverance ". Just kidding. I was raised near there, and there are some nice roads. If you like history, there was a lot of of French and Indian War stuff in that area.

Last time I rode that area (a few years ago), I enjoyed Rt. 160 south from Berlin to Greenville Rd. to Savage Rd. and up through Mt. Davis. The Flight 93 Memorial https://www.nps.gov/flni/index.htm off of Rt. 30 is worth visiting, IMHO. If you get as far east as Bedford, the area between Bedford, Breezewood, Flintstone, MD, and Hancock, MD has some scenic roads (326, 26, Chaneysville Rd., and Mattie Rd.) with practically no traffic. Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip.

You can't go wrong taking 219 for most of the ride.

While your at Falling waters, check out Ohiopyle just a few miles away.

Lots of good riding and beautiful senery in that area.

I will definetly be on 219 for a while, but will probably go out 33 to get there. Looks like there is an interesting turn-off before Elkins, but then it hooks up to 219 a little further north.

I've been keeping an eye on Ohiopyle. I might be able to camp there. There are a lot of open spaces on Friday, but almost none on Saturday, so if the weather cooperates, that is when I will go up.

Thanks. I'll be mapping things out soon and see if I'm over that far.

If you need a pitstop, I'm just SE of Pittsburgh. North Huntingdon.
Thank you for the kind offer, but it looks like my trip is going to be pretty much a straight up and back at this point. Don't think I will be riding around much.

Maybe next time.
