Hey gang,

Just a quick shout out to anyone that may have either a spare Roadrunner harness or Brodie's Ground Spider upgrade kit laying around. My '06 has never had any updates done, and with only 20K miles I'm not that worried about the ground issue yet. That said, my 3 closest dealers are all numbnuts when it comes to FJRs, sold one or two in 8 years, never done upgrades or any real service.

I'm reluctant to let them put my (so far) virgin bike under the knife to install the factory solution. Since both the forum member solutions aren't being built anymore, I'm coating on finding a spare someone has laying around... hopefully?

Otherwise it's put another 7,500 miles on this year and park it at a semi-shady dealer in the fall, hoping I get it back with most of its panels fastened on correctly. :/

Thanks guys!

Road Runner is soon to build a batch, get on the list ;)

You may also want to get the upgraded ignition switch p/n 90891-30058-00. I got mine on ebay.

I just ordered more plugs, so they will be coming soon. I also have a lot on my plate now, so sorry about the delays, but I will get them done asap.

Also if you haven't gotten any of the recalls done you really should get them done !

Sweet... I think I'm already on the "Roadrunner" list... but if not, please add me! ;)

Looking into the ignition switch, sounds like a goof upgrade!

And yes, I will be getting the updates done, just want to wait until after riding season since it'll be down for at least 2 weeks... at least that's what my stealership tells me. :(

I don't understand some of these dealers. They're either stupid or lazy or maybe both. Would you lay up your car for 2 weeks for a few recalls, Hell no ! My dealer is OK, but I still have to walk him threw how it's going to go when they do anything for me. They try the same **** on me, but I refuse to leave it unless they're going to look at it that day. I schedule a day for them to look at it, then schedule a day for them to fix it. I'll be damned if I will leave it anywhere for 2 weeks, unless it won't run and I have no choice. So I would loose it for 2 days. One to look at it for diag, and one day to fix it AFTER the parts come in.

Sorry, rant over.

Although I could have gotten a free ignition switch by having the recall done, I chose to buy one and install it myself.

I'd just rather do my own work...

Between Brodie's and road runners ground harnesses, I see no need to bother with the ground recall.

Agreed... for most repairs I'm totally with you on that. I've even skipped recalls on my older 90s Toyota Pickup and Subaru Outback since I know the mechanics at my dealers have a reputation for cutting underbody panels and leaving lots of panel fasteners loose. Yes, I went and bought the (relatively cheap) updated parts and did them myself... done right, no fight! Thinking about it, actually ALL the auto dealerships in my city have a pretty awful customer service rep. Isn't that sad? :(

The harness I have is the ignition switch recall harness and not the grounding harness. Sorry for the error.
Ahhhh... that isn't the one I was looking for, but thank you for clarifying.

Deal closed with TriggerT, my ground spider is saved! Thanks everyone for you input, and Tim for the harness! :)
