My 06 FJR has Roadtec Z6's and the front has these cuts or gashes going almost all the way around the right side of the tire. They kind of go in a "wave" type of pattern. They aren't found any where else on the front or rear tires just on the right side of the front.

I stopped by my dealer today but of course they were closed since it's Monday. Does anyone have similar problems? The bike is two months old with about 4600 miles on it. I'm a little conserned the tire might fail at speed. Is there another tire the FJR came with in case i get it replaced under warranty?

That's different than how the Metz's usually self destruct. The tire is covered under the Metzeler warranty, not the Yamaha warranty. So, likely that you'd have to take Metzelers for the swap. Any other brand would be on your tab unless you have a super cool dealer who has your back. Don't ride that thing, even down your drive. Park it. It is also interesting to note that Yamaha pulled the Z6 off their recommended list for a short while last year.

Other choices of brands include Avon (generally though of as the FJR tire), Michelin (my fav), Bridgestone, Pirelli and Dunlops. There are others, but not many run them and so we have little info.

FWIW, I tore off a 4,000 mile set of Z6's because they scared me to damn near death. Slimy and unpredictable at best, IMO. Repeat, IMO. Repeat, IMO.

Your link doesn't work either. It says I don't have permission. Me? SkooterG? I always have permission!

My recommendation is to use www.photobucket.com.

Lots-o back and forth around here on the Metz Z6 tires as well as every other brand. Many, like I, will never put a Metz on my bike due to the failures. Others swear by them. Regardless, there are lots of other good choices out there. I would try the Avons or Michelin Pilot Roads.

My Z6 tires have 3500 miles on them, and look fine and run great. Very sensitive to inflation pressure though; even 2-4 lbs less than the 40 I run in the front, and they are slick and unsettling. If mine looked like that I wouldn't ride it: and at this point, I agree, try another brand ("Did I say that?").
