After resting up for a week after our last bike ride Brian and I are heading out again!! This time we'll be on 4 wheels though. And the beaches will be frozen.

Stay tuned for our Ice adventure.

So April 1st we decide to go for a ride, albeit on the ice this time. We've gone fishing.

So we loaded up the bikes.

It's off to Brians cottage. When we get there we must blow out the driveway.

We travel to Lake of Bays just west of Dorset Ontario. Then travel a couple of miles down the lake. We are joined by Tim and his wife Sue.

After you get your holes drillled and your line baited you get comfy and wait ......

With a little luck you might catch a lake trout. We were lucky enough to catch ........2

As the sun goes down on another day we head back to the cottage to cook up our catch.

Thanks for dropping in on Rob and Brian... see you soon

First, Thank you for sharing with us.

Second, since I've never been Ice Fishing I have a few questions.

1. How thick is the ice??

2. Do you fear it might break then you and the Four Wheelers head to deep cold water??

3. Is the ice making a lot of noise while you're on it??

I ask these questions because my Nephew is begging me to come to Alaska and do some Ice Fishing...which I think he is BS'ing me because I would believe we would go into some Sounds and open water in the area.

I would be a little nervous on the ice....but what the hell; you only live once.

Thanks.

Raclow... to answer your questions.

1-the ice was about 20 inches thick and we were in 70 feet of water.

2-the ice is thick enough to hold a locomotive, although sometimes there might be 2 layers. A thin surface or crust can freeze and you might find a couple

of inches of water then the solid thick ice.

3- The ice groans and moans throughout the day. The sound is quite amazing.

Like you say you only live once .... Grab life by the horns!!
