I am leaving 0600 31 October for Robbinsville from the Jacksonville Florida area. Will ride straight up to Robbinsville and stay for 3 nights before returning on Thursday morning. The weather forecast is great and since this is on my bucket list I am going to knock it off before the weather gets bad. Staying in the Microtel. Any takers please let me know so we can find a meeting place.

I'm going to miss you by about 2 weeks. This time of the year in the Smoky's is gerat. A lot of traffic though. Be careful and have fun!

When you ride across the Cherohala, you might try eats at Tellico Grains in the town of Tellico Plains, or if not Tuesday at Tellico Kats right on the Chero next to the (mostly dried up) river.

The Hub at the north end of Robbinsville has great reviews and I like it too.

The setting is beautiful on the river front porch dining at The Tapoco Lodge, near the Cheoah Dam, on your way to The Gap. The Gap Store food is ok too.

Had a great trip. Rode up Monday and the rode the mountains Tuesday and Wednesday . Had 2 FJR's at the motel but not forum members. Didn't want to ride with them because they were much younger and I knew they would be pushing it on the rides. I rode alone at my own pace and loved it. I rode the Dragon the first day and then rode the Cherohala Skyway 3 times over the 2 days. I loved the Cherohala Skyway. Much easier on me but still some challenges. I learned some valuable lessons on my first long distance ride. The stock seat must go. The butt burn made the 2 500 mile rides seem like forever. I need to get some highway pegs so that I can stretch my legs. My touring windscreen needs to be about 2 inches taller. The bike performed flawlessly and I averaged about 49 mpg (not that it matters). I will have to do this again and hopefully with some of our members. There are to many roads to ride in 2 days. I wanted to ride more but it didn't work out with the short time I was there. The FJR sure gets some compliments. When I stopped someone always had to come over and talk to me about the FJR. Loved every minute of it. (except the butt burn)
